Yep, it's where the Climate control monitors the cabin temperature.

All E30's have the grill, only E30's with climate would have the sensor behind the grill.

i always wondered that but was to embarresed to ask

now i no it has no relevance and can be used for a button to eject missiles from the front headlights, preferably aiming at french cars and rovers
