Hello!
I've been toying with buying an e30 for over a year now and since then i've had an MR2, Volvo740 (dont ask), Range Rover 3.9 V8 and a Nissan Primera GT!
After owning this 325i for a few days I realise I should have just bought one straight away! (Apart from the MR2 to be fair that was a superb car!)
Have to say i'm massivly impressed with the car, the handling and drive is superb even though mine is a little ruff. My friend has also just bought one and we have been charging around our local area in convoy with huge smiles on our faces!
Its a red (sort of, after 6 gallons of T-Cut and an RSI!) 325i SE with electric everything but standard seats and no aircon. I'm intending turning it into a bit of a track day car. Not balls out though still want to be able to use it daily.
Basically I was wondering what you guys would suggest to make the car solid on the track? What kind of modifications / preperations do i need to make?
Just joined the site after buying a 325i off ebay!

First thing I'd do is sort the brakes (see the brake fluid thread) you might want ATE power discs & braide hoses on top of improved fluid/pads
Check suspensions OK, replace worn bushes etc. Any weight you dont need should be removed (as much as is practical)
Make sure the oils topped up
If you're serious about tracking, then I guess good seats/6point harness/rollcage/helmet etc is the way to go.
Thats off the top of my head, probably some obvious bits I've missed
Cheers,
Robin

welcome mate!hope you like it here!
i give you 2 months then you'll be addicted to e30's and the zone
i'm with the other guys on the mods, brake and suspension first, as its easy to go fast, but fast and twisty is a different matter

Welcome aboard
Are you also thinking of adding some more ponies too?
If so......
Zone chip (wild one) - Ԛ£55.00
Big bore Throttle body - Ԛ£120.00
Z3 short shift - Ԛ£50.00 (in parts and 2 hrs messing about)
Exhausts are a personal choice, the std one gives good power, but if you're like me, I need some noise!! Get a scorpion or equivalant on.
Then.....
6 branch exhaust, cam, maf conversion, remap can see 195bhp, but it starts to get expensive!!
The top three should see a healthy 175 - 180 bhp, assuming your lump is a good one.
I'd say plugs, cap, leads are a good starting point too, get it running well then add the mods.
HTH, Mark.
