the purple hartge is dead.

anyone see a purple(calipso red) hartge 2.7 in total bmw about a year ago?

it belongs to my mate dave. from summerset...

this car was also at the last bexley meet in 2004. so some of you boys will know the car and the owner.

unfortunatly the car is now dead, it had an underbonnet fire a few days back and is now a write off.

its a real shame as it was a lovely e30. one of the nicest ever. daves on the hunt for another 2 door e30 now to transfer all the parts over. so the car will live on in a different guise.

dave used to be on the old forum, he had problems getting on this one, and he dont have a computer so thats why you never see him. most of the car was fine, but the engine sufferd some melting of the alloy parts. i hope his cam cover is ok.

no the engine wasnt rebuild, but he had another 2.7 waiting to go in there. good job really.

Thats sad, I liked the colour on that car, realy individual.

I'm sure he will find another rust free E30 shell for all his nice running gear.

I remember the car, the bloke and the magazine article (which i still have somewhere) - all three very good - quite a tradegy this.

wasn't that the car with reg 'pils', it made something silly like 160bhp at the rolling road day and was featured some weeks later in a bmw mag?

Was a lovely colour and he had most of the hartge bits too.

What a shame, did he not get the lump rebuilt then?

Glad he is ok, shame about the car, not seen many in that colour

hes on the look out for a nice 2 door in silver. with no rust so the odds are against him.

yes. i didnt do very well at bexleys. but that was just a crap engine to be honest. the lump was supposidly a 2.7 hartge lump. we bought it from great yarmouth, what a joke.

Sounds like it was just the hartge rocker cover then, that sucks
