The clock in my bmw 318is doesnt seem to work. Despite numerous skirmishes to breakers yards around my area, and after robbing three BMW clocks only to have none of them function, i rang BMW to see if they were still available.
" Yes Sir" the guy replies,
"Superb", i reply. How much is that mate?"
How much do you reckon?
Ԛ£70!!! and it has to be imported from germany taking 3 weeks! so a warning to anyone whos clock brakes in an e30, DONT WASTE YOUR PHONE BILL ON BMW DEALERS THIS TIME!

At the risk of losing Touringdaddy a sale, are you sure that there's 12V+ on the clock connector.
I've only ever come across one faulty E30 clock, and that was only that it lost time at the rate of half a minute a week.

But I'll put an OBC in there sometime, so it's hardly the end of the world...

Lever off the clock surround, release the clips and pull the clock out of the panel. Pull of the plug, and check with a small 12V lamp that there is 12V across the red/green and brown wires.
It's an electric clock, and won't wo5rk without power.

Fuse is 21 - and testing with a meter is next to useless. Even with a series resistance of several thousand ohms the meter would still give a voltage reading. Check with a 12V5W lamp (something like an indicator side repeater or front parking lamp and leads from a scrap E30 does the job fine.
Check with the lamp between red/green and a bit of unpainted metalwork.
