tomorrow is/maybe the end of an era... this is due to me finding a 328is to have a look at... nothing is set in stone but its looking pretty likely she will be going.
i doubt many have given their e30 as much love as i have(not in a sexual way)
the car is my first vehicle and i have spent a massive amount on it... this is not the point though, she been reliable and has served me well... she handles like an e30 should... tight and responsive.... and with the 87' pushing her along she has a little poke too!
now the 14''bbs are back on i have taken a couple of pictures after i gave her a damn good wash and hoover out...

I think your doing the right thing, the E36 is faster, better looking, handles better and doesn't rust. EDIT as much.
dont know why people are being neg - its still a bmw.

Thing is the E36 just aint as special as the E30 its a nice car but thats all it is a car, the E30 is a icon and is seriously cool, the E36 is to run of the mill these days unless you get something like an Alpina or a B10 even the E36 M3's are a bit of an everyday thing

Thats a minter!

I agree the E36 isn't as special - i think its a case of tit for tat or somthing.

Friend of mine has had over 50 E30s, 20 or 30 E36s and 10-15 E46s and one E92 and he still misses having an E30 for an everyday car so he's going back to them again and maybe getting rid of the E92 :P

And, he's not the only person I know that's got newer Bmws and gone back either...

Only one person I know that has had E30s and is happy in his E36... but that's an M3 Evo and he still has a garage full of E30s in the shape of an M3, 318iS and a track car in the making

I think your doing the right thing, the E36 is faster, better looking, handles better and doesn't rust.

Faster... from 325i upwards...yes...

Better looking... no, unless they have some very nice touches to stand out from the rest but... saying this compared to an ACS E30 feels abit silly, lol

Handles better... possibly, especially a good one on coil-overs but E30 still feels more entertaining as E36s don't "feel" fast.

Doesn't rust?!? Ehh... I've seen E36s with as much rust as a Tec 1 sport and the worst part of it, they seem to go in very important places alot :(

But, I really like E36 328s :?
Can always use the engine for an E30 if you get sick of it anyway winkeye

E36coupe.com is full of people who have had e30 and are now happy in e36.

btw most of that is correct, but they certainly can and do rust.
theres an Alpina B6 2.8 on the e36 site thats about to get broken for that very reason. :(

I suppose the E36 is for people who dont have the time, money or motivation to keep an E30 in good condition and on the road

Im sure they do rust but not to the extent of the average e30, ive never had one with rust ( have only owned the E36 in M3 form) but i rate the 325 and 328 models highly.

And yes mr pac - I had a typing error there! E30?

Rear arches are an E36 favourite and also the panel under the bootlid and between the bumper. Remove the boot seal as well as mine (which has no other rust) has gone a bit scabby under it where the seal has failed. Check that all four sill rubber bungs (under the car) and the jacking point covers in the actual sills are present as they can rot badly if they're missing.

Check the suspension thoroughly as snapped springs and knackered balljoints (a clunk over drains etc) are common.

IIRC if you hold the mileage/trip reset button whilst turning the key to position 1 or 2 a series of digits will flash up - one of these sets is the last few digits of the chassis number so you can check if its the original dash instruments.

What's happening to the silver turd?

Be careful bumlover. Newcastle is close to scotland, and that means rusty turds, it is probably already on its 3rd set of brake pipes !

As testiment to Tim's car i can say it really is tight. He never spared expense or commitment, and having driven the car i was thoroughly impressed with how good he has made it.

Never know if it hasn't gone today i might have it off him lol!

i should hope not either most e30's have got at least 10 to 20 years on the e36 the very early e36 is a bag of sh1t i bought a 325i on a h plate a couple of years ago it was as rotten as they come snapped rear springs and just a mess and it had only 128k

im back... iv just had my first single of the day... here is some advice... dont drive to newcastle and back in a day... im @ucked.

now back to the thread.... shes gone..........................................................

the 328 is out the front... the drive home was nice, the e36 handles well with the avis package(or whatever it is) compared to the e30 it @ucking moves... the note from the exhaust(it has a performance one fitted) can only be described as evil...
i enjoyed it ok!!?!?!??? i admit it!!! i enjoyed the @ucker!!!
i got 235 miles to half a tank... not bad considering i opened her up a few times.
please bare in mind this is the second car i have ever owned... and its going to get as much love as the first.
fear not! i will still be on the zone!

hellrot 328is......
