Here's the problem;

I was all set to look for a post facelift cab, with or without a kit, to use as my project car which I have listed my intentions for before. It was basically going to be black with MTechII plus a load. Then I saw Schmick's MTechI cab and my ideas have possibly changed forever! The look is SOO old skool and beautiful, I just want it. O yeah!!

So my question is, can an MTechI kit be fitted to a newer facelift cab? I ask because I cannot see the chrome bumpers on his car and it looks incredible (IMO). My second question is, if I do go for an MTechII in the end, if I source and fit one onto a car without one, do I need one specific to a convertible, or is and MTechII kit an MTechII kit??

Thanks a lot, this is a serious problem!!!!!!!!!

The answer to the second question is that you need the sideskirts specific to a convertible as they're different.

I'm almost 100% sure (someone back me up please?) that the front and rear bumpers are all the same for the M Tech kits, it's just the sideskirts (different for the cab, longer for 4-door/touring) and the spoilers (different for the touring) that are the problem :thumb:

He does have the chrome bumpers and it will take a lot of serious bodyshop time to fit m-tech 1 to a facelift.
More of a technical question but hey..

ok, so i guess from this that if I want and MTechI cab I need to find a pre 87 car, or at least a pre-facelift one. And if I want an MTechII cab I will need to source the sideskirts separately but that should be all that is unique to the cabs. Am I about right?

Thanks

PS. How readily available are MTech I kits? And MTechII for that matter?

From what I've gathered that is right, though still need someone to confirm as I'm not quite 100% sure.

A pre 1987 325i cab will be quicker than a post '87 car remember :cool:

The M-Tech kits come up on here and on eBay every so often, I thought it was every few weeks but I haven't seen any recently for some reason :?

You'll just have to keep an eye out....

Tech I is a lot cheaper than Tech II as well I've noticed, perhaps as most prefer the later kit as the earlier one is far more subtle and only really appreciated by enthusiasts but the later kit makes a huge difference to the car noticeable by everyone (show-offs! :mad:)
