this is a right retard question, but how do i get the back bit up where the hood tucks into?

if its a manual pull the door handle on the rear nearside panel under the window,,,,if its electric it does it for you :roll:

just pulled that but i think the linkage may be buggered cause its popping up but then gets stuck and wont open any more

There is a safety catch located under the horseshoe (the bit where the hood tucks into) it is on the leading edge nearest to the passenger side rear of the horseshoe.

So do as Dave says and then you need to flick the safety catch.

You need to slide your finger under the horseshoe inside the edge nearest to the rear passenger side.
