i saw a really nice E30 today, badged as an Alpina B3 2.7
it looked fantastic in a dark grey metallic with Alpina wheels, front bib and alpina boot spoiler.

i just wondered, whats the difference between this and a C2 2.7 ?

if no differences then does anyone know why the name change ?

Badge change only.

iirc its something to do with "B" being somehow better than "C" when its comes to Alpina, so later cars were badged that way.

more on this from the 'Pina nerds, or in Andy Everet's bible

facelift left hookers where badged as B3's with a cat engine. German customers felt the "C" designation given for the small block M20 6 pots was inferior to the big block "B" coded M30 engined cars so they changed it

all RHD and LHD chrome bumper cars were C2's

Did they also not have the "catalyser" badge as well. This is ringing bells with the red australian car also being badged as such.
