Where're the chassis and engine numbers located?

I should probably search first, but hey-ho!

Where are they? I thought the chassis number was on a plaque on the dash - but noooooo! Engine is the M42 too...

Damn insurance questions! It says 'most often on the dash/under the carpet in the footwell', I had that carpet up a week ago - it aint there for sure!

So, please let me know, and thankyou!

Can't find the engine number though, and it HAS to be on the block/head which is totally not particularly visible!

is it not on the inside of the slam panel?

engine number is on the passenger side bottom of the block,
on a protruding steel billit of metal,you may need to clean it/sand it
though.
