Is it J220?
Seen a dark coloured cabby on the M1 this weekend, steamed past me wth a different coloured hood to the bodywork.
Although neon green is light? It was at night.

Erm between J8 and J6A Southbound.
Probably not the same one, but it was about 2AM when I saw it... Never know.
I think it was a soft top, so ignore this, then.

The nearest M1 junction is J40 so that's a fair way down but thanks
they weren't opportunist thieves there was much better/more valuable cars around the area it was taken from
they were targeting e30's I think it's probably being stripped by now so the parts might crop up for sale ?
I know it's a long shot but if anyone knows/hears of anything please PM me
thanks ..Steve

Thats interesting because I had two blokes in a e30 touring looking at my cabs on my drive. I thought at the time it was very strange to have an e30 parked so close to my place.

Sounds a sad story e30 topless, because if it was a nice one its probably iraplaceable to your frend.like you said been broken for parts also a shame.

i am so carefull where i leave mine, either garaged at night with a car blocking it in or on my drive with clifford alarm on,disclock.and blocked in by a 02 corsa also with a disclock on.
It could have been that one on the M1!! its a quick escape route for scum bags ...

Very sad news
As mentioned already what about the alarm / immobiliser. Did it have one fitted.
Unless they stole the keys?

There are very few alarms that I'd trust to do anything more than deter a casual thief. Very sorry to hear about the loss of this cab. I think we should all take heed and be careful. E30s may not be expensive but they are easy to steal and there is a demand for parts...
The bigger question is, what can we as a community do about this? I suggest the first thing is posting up the reg and details of any stolen E30s/parts but beyond that it gets a little tricky. Maybe we should get some "E30zone security" stickers made up...

Really sorry to hear about this, it seems that nicking e30's is becoming a popular pasttime for scumbags all over the country, it appears to be happening quite a bit lately.

+1
Good idea about the stickers I think. Maybe people should start putting in fuel cut off switches in hidden places in their cars?

Fine idea, fuel cut off and a functional alarm should really deter most theives.
Sounds like your friends cab has been targetted - ie. watched to see if there's an alarm used etc.
There are many eyes that connect up here, so there's a chance something may leak though.. It may be coincidence that they picked such a rare machine & as such may be in the hands of amateurs.

Sorry to hear this.
As Simon says, Design Covertibles are rare (v. limited production run) and in the future, a good example will fetch good money.
I had a hardtop nicked off my cab in the middle of the night. It was no opportunist theft. Car was targetted for a blue OE hardtop. They are very vulnerable pieces of kit and cannot be fully secured. They got it but with the help of the BMW Car Club, (yes membership has its benefits!) I got it replaced on my insurance.

I've always thought it would be fun to have some sort of "sleeping gas" let off in to your car if someone tries to start it wouthout disarming it. Obviously it would have to be instantaneous as you wouldn't want them falling asleep at the wheel.
But think of all the lovely things you could do if you found a thief fast asleep in your car

Now driving an E46 320D touring

its a shame things like this happen, some one tryed to nick my e30 a while ago by trying to remove the trims around the window. and lastnight my mates pug 306 with his 2.5k spl system nearly got nicked, they ripped the lock out and tryed opening the door. it was a good thing he dead locked it.

Although the clinically insane argue with themselves happily, the rest of us usually need someone else to help us along. Try not to be that someone else, ok?
Let's leave this thread now to anyone who might know about the stolen convertible.

This happened to mine too, my sport got stolen and burnt at th back of slough train station car park in the morining time.
Used for robbery, I was devastated.
I take the steering wheel off my Alpina when I leave it overnight, and since I hardly take it out, noone knows I got it around my area, except peole on the street of course.
Slough is a dodgy place, anything will get stolen here.
Look on sites for broken parts everywhere.

thanks for the sticky Chris
no news yet and it did have an immobiliser fitted
I suppose as parts are getting harder to find e30 thefts will increase ? where I live I can leave mine open most of the time but will be locking them up from now on

Crap news about the cab, doubt it's still round here but I'll keep an eye out for it or any bits.
