Just finished putting the engine back together and after the second oil change of the day to clear away any crap its now running lovely.
I was really nervous before I tried to start it for the first time as Ive never taken an engine apart at all never mind do all this.
Thankfully it started first time and ran like a dream after the first 10 mins.

Im going to go drive around all night now to run it in a few hundred miles before I see if its much quicker.
I just hope it doesnt break down on me somewhere.

Heres a pic of the engine now and how it looked before!

Well done matey. That bay looks sweet! :thumb:
It's great satisfaction to do something like that yourself and the main thing is that you know it's been done right aswell. When I took my old engine out I found that 2 of the manifold studs were missing after having some work done on it by a local garage - and I know they were there before the garage got their mitts on it cos I done the manifold gaskets when I bought the car. If you want something done right do it yourself!!!
Hope you keep it lookin' that clean!

The effort it took to sand down the letters etc on the rocker cover was well worth it when its all sprayed up and you peel away the masking tape to reveal the nice shiny letters! It took hours of sanding and spraying.
Im gonna clean up all the pipes and plastics now as I didnt have time to do those.

Then its suspension time etc. First thing Im going to do is change the front bushes etc as the car is all over the place at speed.
I might just leave in these springs and get new Bilstein shocks as it sits really nice at the mo.
