Yet another Motorsport Question:
Getting very rare now as we all know and not many left in origional condition or even good condition.
We have a member here who has the following plans for his Motorsport cab, just want to know what your thoughts are and what it will do to the value of the car:
Origional Car is a nice straight Auto M'cab which is going to have:
2.7 conversion giving atleast 210bhp (does this devalue car?)
E46 M3 side vents
Already lowered to the floor
Black front Grill
Mtec 1 rear spoiler
Changing Auto box to manual
Dogsh*t sounding remus back box
Clear/Black rear lights

As long as the mods are reversible, then in my opinion you return it to standard when you try to sell it.M5pilot wrote:Yet another Motorsport Question:

Forget the E46 side grills
And i'm not a fan of clear lights either... but the car ain't mine.

If a modification should be reversable then it basically implies that all modifications devalue the car?
In other words, adding a 2.7 should really devalue the car also.
What about Auto > Manual conversion?

Auto > manual could be reversed..... alot of work though.
As for the 2.7, can't see the problem there, as it would look the same, right??
Purists would shoot him dead, but we can't stop him can we!

2.7 doesnt bother me - the rest should be left well alone!! Esp the side vent nonsense!
Anything that can be reversed is fine.. could reverse a 2.7 by using a new engine n keeping the original

I agree that the owner has every right to do what he wants to it. He can paint it flat pink if he wishes!

Sal, Does he live on a council estate, listen to westwood, wear branded sportswear and think 9 ct tom is cool?, i thought so, shame on him. Why doesn't he sell it and buy a D reg w*nker and mutilate that, think of all the spare cash he'd have to spend at matalan and j.d sports.

LOL!!
No, he dont live on a council estate, he lives in Hayes (which is worse?).
I think he should not basta*dise a nice car like that.

I think he should do the engine conversion and leave the rest well alone. The flip car in my sig was an original M-sport with 1 owner when i got her. We chopped the s@it out of it and i spent over Ԛ£15k getting it to what it looks like today and i deeply, deeply regret it, cause had i left it standard, it would probably be worth more than it is today with all the mods i've done, and i would still have my original Ԛ£15k too

Nope,
Its sebring grey.
Bootyman, 2.7 conversion with Auto box is still no match for a standard 325i sport with manual box.
2.7 Cab with manual box however is a different story........but converting a auto M'sport cab really (in my opinion) will devalue it.

Yes its Quasers!
Only a Hayes boy would bastar*ise a car to that extent!
Auto 2.7 in a heavy Cab is hardly any faster than a standard 2.5 one. His has a MAF conversion and that Doooooo*gSh*t Backbox which made it sound faster than it was. Did sound good on the induction side though.
It was going to get eyebrows, angel eyes and AC schnitzer bages until Taxidriver and myself talked him out of it.

Motorsports should be left standard IMO, and as was said in another thread recently anykind of modification seems to devalue these. The only thing i would do would be put some BBS split rims on one and then keep the origianl cross-spokes for selling time.
Just my 2p though, everyones entitled to do what they want to their car.

TBH this whole 'modify or not' bit is getting silly.Way I see it, is, if you own the car you can do whatever you want with it-it belongs to you.
I'm all for maintaining some examples in original spec as reference points (already in museums) as for the rest of them, As long as the owner isnt deliberately trying to drive it into a wall, then any mod is ok by me, esp if it makes it easier or more practical to use everyday.
Motorsport cabs are, at the end of the day, just cars like any other e30. I'd prefer the owners to be 100% happy with their car rather than concerned about what others think
