Hi all, im considering going LPG on the 320i (which wont be a 2l all its life) as it'd save me a fortune as I do a hell of a lot of miles, and i know of quite a few LPG stations nearby...
How much would one expect to pay to have an LPG kit fitted, or is it possible to get the kit second hand and fit it, if so how much roughly do they go for?
Just need to work out if its an economical idea.

Agreed, I 100% wouldn't bother with a 'professional' £1200+ conversion on an e30. Around about 3000-4000 miles and you have paid it all back.
£200+ will buy you a complete kit with all you need, well bar some patience fitting it. Everytime I drive my car I am now making money compared to when running it on petrol a few months ago.
You have a year before LPG prices are reviewed by the scumbags.

I heard that they were going to whap a load of tax on LPG around 2011 to get all the people coming in for the olympics, hell, a year is good enough though as I do about 30k a year and at the moment the beemer is just raping my wallet!
Ive seen the spare wheel well tanks and that really appeals to me as it doesnt mean losing precious boot space! but how long would the tanks last as they dont seem that large?

You don't necessarilly need a certificate. It's not a legal requirement.
I don't have one and I'm pretty sure other LPG users on here don't either. Plenty of insurers don't need sight of a certificate, although you do have to declare the LPG system as a modification.

This is why I no longer drive an E30......
I would just go for it and convert. I did mine with lots of help off here for about £250 with everything. For that price, I didnt mind too much about saving money as I only do 100miles a week, I learnt alot and did it mainly for the experience but as you do alot more miles than me, it would be a good investment. My car used to do 170 miles to £40. Now it does 150 miles to £15 so is alot better.
