Transfer photo to photobucket.com then left click on the bottom line on the list of links. Tricky to value a car with no vin number,very strange that whoever re-shelled it did not deal with that.Sport's are sought after,so one with a good shell may fetch,what,£2000 upwards.It really is all about condition.

I had a astra gte q plate and I sold it to someone in Ireland. They were not bothered about the q plate as they said it would get put on a age related plate over there.

a q plate needent put me off as the price you buy it for will be in relation to that just like when you come to sell it. the only downside is that it can put some off when purchasing so it might take longer to sell. you can end up with a nice car for much cheaper if its all been done correctly.

My understanding is that you can transfer a 'cherished' 'plate onto a vehicle that is issued with a 'Q' mark,but it must not make the vehicle appear 'younger'...so for example BU 55 SSY (busy!!) could not be transfered to the car being discused,but 123ABC could be.

A little bit of info for those who are not in the know

Allocating a vehicle registration mark
The vehicle must score eight or more points to retain the original registration mark. If less than eight points are scored or a second-hand or modified chassis or altered monocoque bodyshell is used, an enhanced single vehicle approval (ESVA), single vehicle approval (SVA) or motorcycle single vehicle approval (MSVA) certificate will be required to register the vehicle. A 'Q' prefix registration number will be allocated.
Scoring components
The following values will be allocated to the major components used:

chassis or body shell (body and chassis as one unit - monocoque ie direct replacement from the manufacturer) (original or new) = 5 points
suspension = 2 points
axles = 2 points
transmission = 2 points
steering assembly = 2 points
engine = 1 point
Where there is evidence that two vehicles have been welded together to form one (ie 'cut and shut') a 'Q' mark will be allocated. ESVA, SVA or MSVA will be required.
Vehicle identification number
This is a legal requirement for all vehicles used on the public highway to carry a vehicle identity number (VIN). This may be lost when a vehicle is substantially rebuilt, particularly in the case of kit vehicles where the chassis or bodyshell may not have been stamped by the manufacturer. In such circumstances the DVLA local office will allocate a replacement VIN. The DVLA local office will issue an authorisation letter and registration will not take effect until the Agency receives confirmation that the vehicle has been stamped with the correct identity.

Couldn't you have left the private plate on it? As I see it,in the current market,I dont think the car is worth very much at all!

Only if it was very cheap I would think, the cost to import and tax over there has gone through the roof hence the Paddy's not buying our E30's anymore....

Less than one that is not, its all about condition with these cars now and the market is on its arse which does not help either....
