Hmm been getting a bit of driveline shudder since a few too many burnouts and a lot of trying to keep up with 911s at le mans. put a jack under it just now not expecting to see anything obvious...

think my front guibo coupling is on the way out, every hole has huge rips around it! look at all the rubber it's been spraying all over my tranny tunnel

guess i can't complain really  also noticed the gear linkage's rear carrier has spat its rubber bush out somewhere, that'll be why my gearshift's been feeling so sh1te then :teehee:

Well, at least it IS an obvious problem, and easily fixable...

i was worrying the centre bearing might have died, as you say this is an easy fix!

just glad it didn't let go completely at high speed, the prop can't actually come off because the gearbox output shaft nose sits an inch into the end of the prop, but loss of drive in the middle of france would have been a right b@stard!

That dont look good!

Excuse my ignorance, but where exactly is that on the car, i take it its attached to the prop, never got under my car to know much about it apart from the basics

I've not been doing loads of burn outs but i'd best check mine and the center coupling whilst i'm under there 8O

swirly,it sits in between the back of the gear box and the front of the prop

Oh right, cheers mate! No wonder its so fck! The amount of abuse on those must be pretty bad if your ragging the car around all the time.

I could always do with the cash mate !

But no rush,it's got your name on it ;-)

oh and the silicone sealer on my exhaust flange is still holding up !

What sort of bore tubing was on that E36 exhaust silencer ?

I'm thinking of a home brew exhaust for my car if i can't get some thing decent for sensible money.

no probs Andy will get the cash together asap.

the e36 silencer is the same bore as the m30 downpipes  my whole system is welded together from 535i down pipes and that was identical to the front pipes of the e36 box.

not the ideal box, bit of a git to make it fit right. bought it because i knew it would flow a lot of gas (328is can make a lot of power on the standard exhaust) and cos it cost Ԛ£10!

makes a pretty quiet lightweight one box system  mine is a bit raspy but it was a very cheap used box.
