BMW had maybe this as an option when it was new.... Just tick in the box what you wanted for your new E30 and they made it as you wanted.... But remember its also easy to upgrade the E30 your self if you have the parts around, so maybe its a do it your self upgrade on this one?
When it comes to the iX system its a good one after what I have heard, but it isnt so sporty as the Quattro system to Audi.

A guy came and bought some parts from me recently in a tech 1 iX. It was RHD, had M3 leather interior, 2 doors and absolutely mint. He told me the kit had been factory specced and he'd bought the interior after answering an ad for an E30 leather interior. It was a dark blue. Very nice car. I'd love to have got my hands on it and supercharge it.....

Very very rare in that combination.

Old thread but that 325ix has come up for sale so i thought i would show you.

I went to see it last year and its absolutely stunning! I could only find one small circle of surface rust in the engine bay and the rest of the car was mint!

Left hand drive though and been stood for a while, I suppose the main issue would be making sure the drive train was hunky-dorey. I was told that someone at Bel Royal Garage at the end of your road had a 325ix, the middle man offered it to me but I wasn't keen on the idea.

Edit-I've just seen the name on the e-mail address and I know of him well enough to chat to him, I remember seeing this car outside his lock-up by the airport about 4-5 years ago and it was a stripped shell, the chances of there being more than one LHD diamond schwartz E30 with air-con outside his lock up are too slim!

I'd imagine being a mechanic and having completely stripped and rebuilt the shell he's going to want top money for that.

I thought it may have been you!

I didn't know he had done anything to it, all i know is that it was rust free which is a novalty for an e30 these days! :D

It only clicked with me who the seller is and which car it is when I checked out the advert details properly just now.

Did you want the four wheel drive for motorsport? for me it'd have to be a bargain for me to be interested in a LHD with a potentially costly and rare drive-train system. I'm unsure if these were generally quite tough or not.

e30tech has a lot of iX deviants. They seem to think that the drive train is tough when well maintained, but can be expensive when things go wrong. There are turbo M20 iXs out there, but engine swaps are difficult because you'd need a custom sump to allow some 4x4 specific shaft thing to get through.
They seem to rate the iX drive above similar age quattros for its excellent traction and RWD bias.

I'm just curious as its a mint E30.... wonder what the price range for that thing is! Not that its at all within my budget, and LHD, and an iX. But I'd like to see it.

There are too few good'uns over here.

Guy wants 3k for it. Wouldnt pay that myself as i think all chrome bumper E30's should be crushed lol. iX's are a waste of time IMO cant get any decent suspension parts for them, Drive train parts are expensive, Engine convesions are very difficult. They may be rare and all that, but there rare for a reason... cause no fucker wanted them in the first place! Absolutley no need for 4wd on an e30 at all.

hmmm some mindless people's ideas are so entertaining... I would presume an M3 comes under your ideas as well after all they were based on a chrome bumpers E30..

E30s have useless traction so I wouldn't say theres no need for 4wd on an E30
An iX is quite capable of shifting on snow too!
Also have seen S50 E30 iXes so engine conversions must not be too difficult really :D

I'd love to have a 325iX touring and stick a big diesel into it for pottering about in and towing a lovely trailer with BBS 15"s on it :D
Another reason why an iX would be useful... its illegal to tow a twin-axle trailer with 2wd :)

How many iX's have you owned/serviced/modified/bought parts for? Thought so...

You can get decent suspension for them, you just need to go to decent companys like Bilstein or H&R but your right hottuning dont cater for them :D
They are only rare over here cause BMW didnt sell them here, similar story to the M3!

Have a look on youtube for some engine converted iX's, you'll be suprised what people in countrys where they were sold have done with them.

I have plenty of drivetrain spare for ix's, three cars worth in fact!

James mate you have to understand these special E30 owners. They are Fu*cking retards but it leaves more chrome for us with taste. Best looking E30's are early E30. Plastic bumper E30's are just old bmw's. Let them get on with it.

Yeah, they are going to really start cracking down here on 2wd chariots pulling twin-axle trailers from January onwards.

You already need to do a test to pull a trailer here
