i was planning to spend 2000 on my engine [ 89 325 sport] over the winter
but from reading different threads i am not going to get much improvement for that sort of money. What is the best way to go with this ?

if it's a genuine sport in decent nick, i'd avoid conversions as they'll devalue the car (maybe not now but in the near future once classic status takes hold)

afaik, a fresh 2.7 could be done for that money and in a way will hold onto the originality of the car.

if it's a fake sport, M30, M50 or M52 are the way forward!

i havent the space or knowledge to do a 2.7 build, i thought with parts and labour the cost would be a lot more than 2000.

been thinking might just get in touch with Ant @ A-Tech and get a price for a complete engine or find out the cost for doing mine.

A good 2.7 will add up to well over the 2K mark with labour especially.
I would go for a set of dbilas ITB's and a lairy cam  Will be slightly over budget but well worth it. Or save up an extra grand and buy a rotrex charger kit 8)

i was reading one of Ant's threads where he said a 2.7 would cost up to 3500 whether that includes everything needed i will have to find out.His workmanship seems to get nothing but praise. I dont know if i would have to take the engine out and refit or leave the car with him. Is your car finished now, what do yoy think of it ?

^ I love my engine. Its a great drive. Oz's engine is lovely also. Mine isnt completed just yet, needs to be properly mapped and have the itb's fitted.
Are you after a freshly built engine as opposed to tweaking yours?
^I left my car with him, you may be able to save yourself a bit of money if you remove and refit yourself.

2.8/2.9+ etc strokers are worth considering for more power.
