Hi guys, any of you own a E21 as well as an E30 on here.
I've just bought an E21 for a project and want to put an M30 in there so help and input is well appreciated.
Base car is a 1983 316 in white, body is very sound with about 4 rust sopts, 2 either side on the B pillars and bottom valance and rear valance.
Have already got a BBS front apron, cross spoke 13" alloys (need refurbing) and the interior is absolutley spotless.Am trying to get this blokes Alpinas of him atm.
So now fire away gents.

No p/s but all that is availbale. What i want to know is how many of the e30 parts are easily taken over to the e21 as I have access to quite a lot of mechanicals.
Dips, i've been looking on the21 forum and there are qiute a few with "Big" 6's in them.Remember, i'm starting from scratch.
If all that fails, i've got a m20 325 lump to hand as well.

What a wrong'un!! Bet it looks rather tasty though..

In a sick way i'd love a base spec e21, impractically slammed on some RS' on carbs..

Hi

I have got a few e21's

For the m30 swap you need custom mounts about £100 an early 5/6 series box with a mech speedo output or use the orginal box till it breaks (if it does)

Electric fuel pump

The manifold will need to be custom, or at least the down pipes

You need to shorten the prop shaft as it is a tight fit

Rear diffs can be week so new oil and no 3k launches.

LSD are rare and very expensive, plus you can do an e12 rear diff conversion

You also want some braek upgrades volvo 240 4 pots and 323i rear trailign arms

Plus join bmwe21.net

Thanks Jason for the input, much appreciated.

Have you done the M30 conversion and how much was the total bill?

Lsd not interested as i think there too much money, open diff is fine for my style of driving as i'm only going to use this as a SLEEPER  .
The car is a 316 with webber conversion, but on a auto box, no electrics, and interior is in very good nick.

Where would i get the mounts from, prop not a problem, and when you say 323i rear trailing arms, do you mean from a nother e21 or e30????
Can i not do a e30 mod for the brakes as i have access to a lot of e30 mechanicals.
And you got any pics of your cars?

Cheers

iv got one as a project too, my base car is a 316 auto. M10 lump so im thinking about asking the great Mr.Dips to help me turbo the sucker!

seeing as yours is a 316, (i assume its a manual?) you wouldnt want all those manual bits to go to a good home would ya? got cash if it helps! im after the gearbox and prop shaft mainly.

talk to --ALPINA--, he's got one of the nicest e21s iv seen, he's also knows his stuff! can also find him and others at bmwe21.net.

also fritzs bits do an LSD for the e31 for £300 i believe

nice one!

I used to own a 1976 320i. Yep, 4 cylinder - fuel injected! very rare! MAE794P

It was brown but I had it sprayed in Henna red, fitted Zender front, rear bumpers/spoiler and side skirts. I had lowered spring fitted and a set of E30 botle tops. I was also luck enough to have found a fibre glass bonnet and boot with the batmobile adjustable spoiler on the bootlid which were from the 323i challenge cars. Engine was rebuild by Dick Lovets of Swindon and I sold it to someone in Swansea. I think its been scrapped now (To Pacerpete & Andyboy's delight) but was a stonking car as it was my first at 17 winkeye

I got pics of it somewhere lol.
