If its holding back then fix`that first. Additional modding usually aggrevates the problem.
Besy way to tackle this is on a rolling road.
ONce its giving its best then think about chips/manifolds/ airfilter etc.

as Sal says m8 get the initial problems fixed b4 u start looking at mods.
Zone Chip is a good mod - cheap and certainly frees up power.
once uve got ur problems sorted get one of the manifolds Sal is sorting out - even if it doesnt make your car much quicker on its own (and it should help nicely) it will sound awesome (and quicker)

The manifold will prove itself soon on standard cars.
Its been fitted to 2 C2's with excellent results so far.
This week it will be fitted to a standard 325i with a standard exhaust.
I would definatley say we can make your M20 pull your 325i faster but make sure its on a decent state of tune before.
What exaclty is it doing? If you explain there are plenty of people on here who will help you with advice.
My personal opinion is that you should check the following before adding anything:
1) Valve clearances
2) Check the AFM is good and setup properly
3) clean injectors
4) Throttle position Switch working and set ok
5) Throttle body set up properly (getting full throttle?)
6) No air/vaccuum leaks
7) No exhaust leaks
Full serice including changing the fuel filter and checking all fuel hoses
9) Might be a good idea to check the fuel pressure is ok aswell.
Once these things are done, if the problem still persists then take it to a specialist. If it runs better than start adding bits.
Big Bore throttle Body, Manifold, Chip, intake mods like BMC, MAF Converisons, higher lift cams, exhausts, individual Throttle Bodies, 2.7 conversions, stand alone managament, turbo charging.........its all here!

i do agree with you all, i must get engine probs sorted out first, that is the most important thing, it just feels like when i put my foot down there isnt a 325i engine under there, dont get me wrong its quick, but not 325i quick, seems like it takes an age to get anywhere compared to the other 325's ive had, its like its just not pulling properly, theres no snatching, no grunt, no fun most of all!!! i will have all of the above thing checked out first and see how i go on from there, could you give me any more help on the details ive provided or would you need a little more info, cheers again
