My 0-60 will be infinite right now, unless we have a hurricane or something. I'd be interested to see how much the 4.27 diff will effect the acceleration once the car's back together though.

My Crapi takes all of 10 seconds to finally get up to 62, and that's with the 2.8i Cologne engine. For a 2.5 automatic to be able to make it in 8 seconds shows how much more advanced these E30 are over the competitors. I've never timed my E30, but it feels slower than the Capri in a straight line. But I do only have a 2.0 M20 engine.

theres a good 50bhp differance between the two so you cant really compare. wouldnt the carpi have a better power to weight ratio? compared to a 320.

the 320i is 129 bhp when new, probably around 105 now, and the Capri had about 160 which I reckon has worn down to about 140. The Capri is the heavier car though, I think. It feels way heavier. Also the BMW will redline in 5th at 120 mph, and the Capri will do the same at 150 ish. First gear ratio in a 320i is (I think) 3.35, and it's 3.36 in the Capri, so it must be down to differentials..?

TBH, 0-60 times are pretty irrelevant as 5th gear showed the other week. Unless you are a top-notch driver it is likely that you will be unable to get even close to the manufacturer figures..

A much better test (IMHO) would be a 0-100-0 time...That would tell you not only how good the acceleration is, but how good the brakes are to enable a stop...which, let's face it, is far more important and is probably gonna enable you to be quicker point to point too.

my 325 with a chip and a 3.64 slipper running on 15's would do 6.74, stripped out with a cage. thats with slightly more wheelspin than is ideal in first and second lol. with perfect traction i would say maybe 6.6 ish..... the forthcoming m50 project should be even better! winkeye

"Quattroruote", an italian auto magazine, tested a 320i like mine is in 1983, and registered a 8.33 sec. from 0 to 100km/h (approx 62mph).

I tried some years ago... 10 sec...

I have to try again!! 8)

i used the timer and speed limiter on the OBC to messure mine in my auto touring 325i, got a mate to start it and then stop it when it went GONG! i was at a misserable 10seconds in Economic mode. its OK i suppose concidering 222k miles!. . . my mk1 golf 16valve converted used to do it in just under 6seconds. But the luxuries involved with the beemer are worth the extra seconds!

It will depend on the gearing, the ability to apply the power to the road and how good the driver is.
