its all about the weight mate...318is is 4 cyclinder, so lighter at the front end, while the 325i sport is 6 cycnlinder, so its heavier at the front.
Its all pretty arguable though...

Oh yes there is no such thing a a 325is in the UK, thats something for US only market and not half as good as the Sport as it didn't have a close ratio gear box...

Seems pretty straight forward to me.
Once driven, forever smitten.
Direct injection, turboed, intercooled, 16 valves giving a whopping 48.5hp/litre!! :(

i have a 325 sport and driving a 318is at the mo. the 318is turns in much better.less under steer.
a test. drive at a round about at a steady 40 turn left.
keep the power steady.the 318is goes round much happier.

A lot of people refer to a Sport as a 325is, the s in the is obviously being for "Sport"

It is wrong but it's quite common.

The 318is has 50/50 (or closer to 50/50) weight distribution so is meant to handle better....

318is is something like 47:53 weight distribution.

325 has got more go by a decent margin. I'd guess that in most on road situations then the 325 would be faster. I've got an 318IS though and I love it.

A lot of people refer to a Sport as an m3 as well, there just a wrong!

Call your car a 325is for all you like, it will never be as good as a sport!
