Hi all..

Maybe a strange request.. Does anyone happen to know where I might get some blueprints of the touring shell (top, side, front and rear preferably).. higher resolution the better?

My plan is to model the car in 3DS Max primarily for rendering (and seeing what modifications might look good or crap, without spending a penny) and then possibly for a game (GTR2 / rFactor if anyone knows of them). So far, I've pretty much drawn a blank :?

Any help would be _greatly_ appreciated as I've been looking on and off for the past 6 months :)

Regards,

Ian

I can't help specifically, but...
Have you tried BMW themselves? They might be willing on an out of production car if you ask nicely.
Alternately, if you want to spend money there's always the laser scanning option. Various places will do this (usually engineering-related), but I'm not 100% about how you'd find one in your area. The only one I know for certain is up in Scotland!

Search on http://www.smcars.net/

I've tried modelling the E30 a few times and, to be honest, all the blueprints are crap. Best to use lots of reference photos instead.

Cool! Thanks lads :D

Don't know how I missed some of these.. especially the one on the-blueprints.com as that's where I normally get most of mine from :o:

Unfortunately the project fell through.. but one motor I started a couple of years ago that one day I may complete (low poly for a game and my first real attempt at modelling). I think I'd happily swap my touring for one in the real world :D

Thanks again lads.. I may start a thread once I get going on the touring to display progress and if all turns out ok and there's other people here who use 3DS, I'll share the scene too :)
