Now I mentioned this before on a redundant forum but the standard horn on e30 models is pathetic, in fact its so bad I am too embarressed to depress my button when passing friends (too warn them of my presence of course in a legal manor). Soon to be back in my 316i saloon which has a decent horn rippped off a 7 or 5 series. For the size of the car and look it doesnot deserve a little beep more appropiate on a mini.

I took the horn off my CRX and put on a twin tone horn from a Cavlier and it sounded much nicer. The standard Honda horn was so gay you'd be embarassed to use it!
The horn on my Sport is quite nice actually.

Ive got twin tone air horns on mine...sounds like the horn from rally cars...i love it.....only about Ԛ£20 from halfords if that and you can get triple air horns for roughly the same price also and the blue trumpets look quite good in the engine bay

E30's higher in the range had the twin tone horns as standard anyway, you only need to add another horn to the E30!
What about lorries then! They've got to have puny horns, as loud horns are seen as being threatening!

Is there enough room in front of the radiator and behind the grill. Might be a bit tight for the cone horns.

I only added a low tone horn to my 316i, and it sounded exactly the same as the twin tone on my 325i sounded.orkboss wrote:The standard is slim diaphragm type. My horn is in the middle of the grille, and doesn't sound like a
micra or punto horn.
so you say the standard ones are next to the air ducts?

If the car was fitted with the single tone, then I believe it was fitted behind the kidney, if it was fitted with the twin tone, then they are fitted above the foglights one each side.smithy318i wrote:Im![]()

Would a late Lux have the twin or single horn? I think it's aggressive enough to realy suit the car, it's a nice horn

i was inspired by this thread
i was seeing my mate at his work and spotted a calibra outside waiting to be uplifted to scrap, so i took the horns out it.
its a nice 2 tone mellow number now
