Was worried about my little baby thismorning, but passed 1st time with only 3 minor obbs.
Missing bolt from centre exhaust bracket, slight oil leak from engine slight oil leak from gear box.
Result!
One thing I was not sure of is on the bottom of the print out by 'Autodata' it says Output: 125 (170) 5800.
I'm assuming that is the CO2 and not the BHP at 5800rpm. Just a bit of a coincidance that it also has the 170 in brakets which I assume is the maximum CO2, as being a 325 it should also be approx 170bhp

The more I think of it, it must be CO2 as for an MOT they would test anything else. I think it is just coincidance that the 170 figure is quoted. perhaps it is a maximum of 170 parts per million?
Put it this way, if she is running 125 BHP I better get in tuned!

well 125Kw is pretty much 170bhp... so if your car is running slightly under power (normal with the late 2.5's) then..

Maybe you chaps are right, if it is 170 bhp I'd be very happy!
But if this is the case, then why pay big Ԛ£ for a rolling road test when the MOT print out tells you anyway!
Are there any experts who know what the CO2 output should be for an H plate 325 with the M20 lump? Just curious if the 125 figure would be in the right ball park. I think CO2 is peasure in ppm (parts per million?)
It is a shame the printout has not got units of measurment as that would save all these questions!!

Are! Ignore me.... just noticed that the CO2 print out is seperate running at 2.0%, with HC (Hydro Carbons?) at 190ppm
The part I was looking at I think is just database data that they expect, so it must be 135KW / 170 bhp. So that is no realtion to my car, it is just a 'stock' figure from the manufatures datbase.

No reason why any age of car shouldn't pass and MOT as long as its serviced properly. My 18year old e30 passed with no problems last time around, when my mums 6 year old golf gti had numerous problems to sort out. I laughed so much........!

I wish I had a garage with a pit in it. Bl00dy trolly jack an axel stands on wet cold concrete. When I got my house I said it must have a garage, which I have but it is on block, to small to work in, no power / water and I wouldn't want to leave any tools in there.
It would be great to have the full works, loads of lights, clean, work bench and ramps. Then I'd be more willing to get the motor.

Not all E30's pass so easily, checkout this MOT from my old 325 from when I couldn't really afford to look after it,the results ay it all!
Worst still I was driving this car at high speeds in this state,I've grown up a lot since then, the car was frankly a death trap!
Cost me Ԛ£600 in parts and serviceing to put right, and that was me doing all the work!
The Tourer,well,she's lovely

Funnily enough, there was also an advicery sheet, but it was about 5 years ago and I've lost that bit!
Also the garage that MOT'd was pretty lax with their MOT's as well!

I like the bit about washers and wipers not working .. I'd thought you'd notice that!

Picture the scene with the above faults, driving at night with headlamps all to cock and not working,no wipers, shocking brakes and the wish bone bush that was missing meant that everytime I touched the brakes there was a MASSIVE bang as the wishbone end hit the chassis
Fooking insane,I would never do that now!
PS Nerd,it's great to see another E30 fly through the MOT,so cool,up the Germans!

Did you tow your caravan with that one?Jesus325iTouring wrote: Also the garage that MOT'd was pretty lax with their MOT's as well!
There are garages around here that automatically fail a car if it is more than 5 years old.
I had a mate with a chavalier, he spot welded the rear axle which gave way on a dual carriage way. Smacked the front end up into the Armco, so he stuck some new lights in, and hammered wooded wedges under them to sort the alignment! If you hit the brakes hard the car would stop but the headlights would bounce up and down!
