Definitely don't look on ebay, I don't need anyone competing with my bids thanks!!
Seriously, don't bid on anything on ebay until the last possible moment if you want a bargain, now that all bidders details are private as soon as value goes over £100, there's absolutely no way of being sure you're not having your price pushed up by the seller on another log-in. It's illegal, known as 'shilling', but the temptation and the total unlikelihood of being caught are too great for many sellers to resist. Decide on the price that is the maximum you'll pay and bid once, and late. That way you can't be shafted. Only downside is you might not get over a seller's reserve. If that's the case, contact the seller and make an offer. If you're not sure on values, watch a few auctions for cars you fancy and see what they go for - don't feel you're missing out, there are loads of e30s in all conditions and specs being sold all the time - you'll find the right one for the right money in pretty short order.
Sorry if I'm teaching you how to suck eggs, just I bought my e30 on ebay and though I'm happy with it now, it was quite stressful buying via auction for the first time.

ebay is very gd for brousing.i saw my car onebay and went to see it, i liked it and asked if he had a price and if he would end the aution early, we haggled a bit and then i bought it. i dont know if i would bid on a car to the end of the auction tho. try pistonheads it always has a good range of e30s
Exactly, go and have a look. Ebay is good for seeing what's about, but ideally you want to be doing it the old fashioned way, poke it, drive it, make an offer. Don't bid on something unseen on ebay thinking 'oh, I'll get out of it if it's a shed'. It's an unnecessary hassle, and I've heard some horror stories (baseball bats...
)
Pistonheads has a lot of cars on it, people often seem to want absolute top dollar on there though. Keep your ear to the ground, there really are loads still bumbling about so there's no need to be lumbered with a rusty nightmare.

I bought 2 of my E30s on pistonheads.
Felt abit uncertain the first time since it was my first time going to the uk for a car too albeit with a very experienced friend (He's taken nearly 50 e30s off ye to to bring to Ireland, lol)
After I bought it, I realised it was on her too, If I'd seen in on here I would have been abit more sure of myself aswell but Pistonheads is always a genuine enough place to look I think anyway
