I am wondering, and this is a stab in the dark,if the issue here is incompatability between the engine harness and the car harness...or between the Harge ECU and the car harness...how about trying the original harness/ECU and seeing if the thing will start/run?From that point you can get a Hartge expert to suggest what is needed to get it right. That relay on the starter that you mention sounds like a bodge to me,may be an idea to check what voltage the starter is getting, this could just be a damaged battery/starter cable....

no incompatability issues, the black/yellow wire plugs into, as you put it 'plug of wires' about halfway down the steering coloumn, its tricky to see the connection at first but it should be there
Wanted: Any old component speakers, complete or separate parts, let me know what you got

There won't be any issue with the starter motor or solenoid if you can start it OK from the diagnostic socket. Just get that yellow/black wire connected and all should be good.

First thread I checked when I came in from work, well done, now who was it who wrote that it would be something silly that had been disturbed...
regarding your exhaust,if you have the Hartge manifold and it is similar to the BTB/Hottuning item you will need the centre and rear sections of a three piece system.

Thanks Daimlerman, i currently have a 2 peice system, i was actually thinking of cutting the down pipes of the centre section and matching it with the down pipes of the manifold??daimlerman wrote:regarding your exhaust,if you have the Hartge manifold and it is similar to the BTB/Hottuning item you will need the centre and rear sections of a three piece system.
but before i do that i need to sort out of of the block caps that i just under the exhuast manifold as one of them seems rusted and leaking water!

Beardymat advised me that the amount of work needed to mate a two piece system to a tubular manifold would make a grown man weep...GSF can supply centre and rear sections for around £175.
