I'd just like to say that I know nothing about Carbon Fibre or Kevlar.

But I know what I like, and I like that!! Awesome :)
Now, how about a full set of body panels for a touring? hehehe

Mmmmm, that's just pure E30 porn right there...
Seems to be good quality too from where I'm sitting!

Right, A pair of sterling silver wings to put on until I respray and rebuild the car in a few years, or bite the bullet and get a pair of these and never worry about rot again.

The bonnet has a funny style to it? How come it wasn't made with the orginal raise in the middle? Still savage though.

Ahh, now that I take a closer look of the general shape and not just distracted by what it's made of I can see they are not E30 wings, I thought they were M3 wings at first glance :o:

Having that much carbon is also illegal on a road car, also many race services have banned the use of carbon fibre as it's a serious safety issue.
I don't know about this, but the E46 CSL has carbon door cards. and the E92 M3 has a TUV approved carbon roof panel, carbon cannot be illegal.

I have seen the MG SV in development, these are carbon fibre panels bonded together with mastic and it passed European standard tests..

I make carbon fibre parts and cannot see a problem with using it sensibly on any car.
only my opinion. :D

as above!

i had some carbonfibre wingmirrors on the lancia, after about a year the lacquer yellowed, crazed and started flaking off. can carbonfibre parts survive day to day use and sunshine?

I think you can fix this, i saw on a honda site a guy had a spoiler that was also having laquer peel. He used a very fine wet sandpaper and lots of water and got the old laquer off, then re sprayed laquer and again with a very very fine wet sand paper went over the spoiler and then did another spray of laquer, came out like new.

You can fix that chap, email Andy in e36coupe, he will just add the gel layers for you, alternatively, have a look at his thread on how to, he lists the gel stuff there. Just get some and paint in on then sand it back and re-lacquer.

Oh and all carbon will fade/yellow or the lacquer will go milky over time, it doesn't react that well to UV rays and heat.
