Going to go and see the car on Weds if the seller agrees, with all due respect he does seem like a nice chap.
Anybody local to the car that could inspect it with me, more then happy to pay for your time .

Have a conversation with the seller and see what information you get and what your impression is afterwards.....!

I have seen that 12k car in London. This was during August I believe and the che rearar was up for around 8k.
There was rust behind boot liner on rear inner arch. A bit that had been repaired on the scuttle but a poor job as was lifting paint up. The car has quite a leak from the engine and the clutch would need doing in near future. I didn't spend ages and ages going through it all at the time.
The seller was quite a nice chap and really into his old BMWS- he had couple of alpinas (E46 b3s estate and e36 coupe), 2/3 motorsport cabs needing work, a couple of other older cars.
He wanted £8k and I was sure it would need more than met the eye.
Nice car - 25 odd years old would need some work inevitably.
I stick by my earlier comment on a thread - you will be hard pressed to find an immaculate e30 sport (clean underneath and behind carpets).

It did have a lot of service history, previous mots etc though. I remember thinking £6500 was a decent deal at the time but the seller wouldnt budge past 8. I even have a pic of the car on my phone outside on his drive - incase anybody thinks I'm making this up.

Really?

For 10-12 grand I'd want something with way under 100k, preferably nearer to 70'000 miles. They are out there, you just need to be patient. A couple of years back I was offered a 2 owner 50'000 mile Sport for £3500. It was pretty rusty and needed the usual £5000 body rebuild but the end result would have been a mint low owner 50'000 mile car with a proper history, not something that's been to Pluto and back.

Keep looking.

There are hardly any 70k sports out there in mint condition for £10k my friend. They are super rare at that price and usually we are an hour too late. That even after looking for months! Couple/few years ago was very different and we all wish we had bought/kept some of the cars from then. I only got into e30s like 3/4 years ago and things were very different then.

I would rather buy the tech1 is advertised on this forum if the seller can negotiate reasonably.
