hes got a point,
I stetched myself to the utter finacial limits on my E30, the body job owes me alot of money.
I couldn't afford to have it dipped and all that sh!t plus imho i didn't think my car needed it. Its easy to spend other peoples money!!!

To be fair I did read it like you were saying anything with a bit of rust needs to be acid dipped to be 'propa'bss325i wrote:Don't be factious Andy, its obvious I was talking about a bodyshell that needs restoring.

To have it like original factory 100% rust free condition (there is always rust hiding somewhere in between the joins) you would probably need to acid dip, does not mean a restoration can not be done without acid dipping.
All depends on how deep the pockets & how bad the original car is.
I have seen sandblasted, acid dipped and just plain cut and patched. All versions work.

And that didn't seem to stop them from rotting. So it's not really worth doing.bss325i wrote:

Well it is worth doing as its getting rid of rot that has set in then re coating the exposed metal.BenHar wrote:And that didn't seem to stop them from rotting. So it's not really worth doing.bss325i wrote:

Must be worth doing if it originally with stood nearly 20+ yrs out on the road before rust totally takes it's toll, so you could say it would survive another 20+ yrs before it would require anything.bss325i wrote:Well it is worth doing as its getting rid of rot that has set in then re coating the exposed metal.BenHar wrote:And that didn't seem to stop them from rotting. To be honest, i couldn't care less if people want to crack on with their patch fests.
I just had/have a view on how a restoration is carried out based on how thorough acid dipping is compared to media blasting.

Everyone has there own way of doing things when it comes to building a car.
Whatever you do to a car no matter how good it is, someone will always criticise.
Just a shame there is so much bitchyness....

That Tech1 is probably the biggest bargain Sport I have ever seen
1 Owner from New
38k mileage
FBMWSH
Yes please
And Tech1 I didn't think these existed
I thought they were all bad
This is a bargain. FACT. I think I would prefer the E21 323i LE for £10k over this but the condition might not be as nice as the Sport.
