a rear crank seal will involve a fair few man hours,it depends which way the mechanic finds the easiest way of attack against the Jerry be it engine lifted and supported with box removal on a ramp which in turn involves removing of anything connected or blocking access .

next mot just get the baby wipes out clean up and go elsewhere unless you have large deposits of Iraqi currency dispensed on your land beneath the tourings evening resting place .

Actually Autohaus dropped her back yesterday but I didn't have chance to test drive until this evening. What a difference :) It was the Blue Temp Sensor after all so it's back to rock steady 750 rpm idle, no hesitation off-idle with full or part throttle. In fact, she's now got a thoroughly modern feeling throttle which I didn't realise the E30 could manage. Awesome. I'm really glad that I've got a proper BMW specialist garage in the area with two Master Techs (or ex-master techs I suppose) who grew up on E30s :)

Give us a clue to the location of this garage?

I'm not sure if I have the right one.

If it's faulty it will be telling the ecu that the engine is cold and will over-fuel as a result. Or something like that :)

You would have to mental to lift the engine to replace the rear main seal!

Gearbox out every time weather its on the floor or a ramp.

If doing it on a ramp, providing the are no rusty exhaust dramas then about two hours to do a rear main seal on a 325i.

Book time is probably about 3 hours.

Changed the fan speed resistor, as i had lost number 1 on the switch. Swapped the fan motor for a freshly lubed up goodun, the old one looked to be the original and was a bit worn after 235k.

Removed drivers side wing. Found a couple of holes, not too bad. Then saw the inner sill was rotten, stripped the interior and welded up some new patches. Long day!

Yes got them now.

I use Tim next door to these lads for my powder coating. He's in the next unit called Yorkvick engineering services.

I never new these lads were good on E30's

I have the same hesitation from idle. Will try the blue sensor!
