Ran some quotes on mine, £150 more than the Mondeo, including business miles...not bad, £400 total.

I dont give a shit about resale value man and besides, your too latepony wrote:Better to have a small car like a 1.0 litre and just get used to a road.
Then move to A E30 325i is plenty fast for a young lad and even now u can have plenty fast and will provide entertainment for many years.
As for modifying it .... Hate to be a dampener .... U will never get your money back and who is to say will be more fun than a bog standard 325i. A 325i is cool in this day and age and while most newer beemas are faster the 325i is a proper one. Use the money you save on something useful. I dunno how on this forum and M3 Cutters loads of young lads get fast powerful motors at a really young age but hey

By the way a 3 Series E30 I would consider as a 'small executive' car nowdays especially compared to the latest crop of superminis which are the same size I think ....

Definately keeps me outta trouble! Im the same as you, small cars...iunderstand them but they dont suit my needs.bab-91 wrote:Verde should do what he wants. It's his goal! Something to work towards.
It might even keep him out of trouble? lol
Although when I passed my test I wouldn't entertain a small car. Had a astra & a passat.
Been driving the better halves polo gti 16v. Jesus its alot more fun than the astra ever was.

I didnt deny that from the start and never have. I cant afford my own policy and not many young lads can. And I STILL have parts waiting for you btw, you keep saying youl pay for and take.polsta wrote:but the truth comes out, its not because your in Mi5 and live near someone who owns a combine hervesterrrrr, its coz its not even your policy and your mums put you on her insurance

I definitely enjoyed my couple of days with the polo, now just to get my paws on her dads Rs4verde wrote:Definately keeps me outta trouble! Those little gtis are fast!

So you're fronting and only declaring it as a 316 then!verde wrote:Thats with the car as a 316 though, on mums insurance. If i try to put it on my own insurance itl leap to like 12 grand

Don't insult my inteligence. I have read all of what you have said in this thread and to be honest you are changing your story as you go along.verde wrote:Bss again...read please. the car hasnt been road registered I need to change the Policy

Alright man thanks. Your right. Il leave the engine play alone til im a big boy. 2 litre is plenty for now and will be for a long time. Not worth such stupidity and risk over a bit more powrr I dont needE30BeemerLad wrote:Verde, I haven't read anything but the current page of this thread, but what Barry is getting at is that you are playing with fire with the insurance arrangements you are making.
A modified E30 is never going to wash as being your old girl's car when you stuff it and believe me, a young lad with a 24v'd E30 is going to end up in a smack.
If you have a big off, then your mother would risk a lot when her insurers hose her down for the cost of any third party claims they have had to pay out on.
I know you want to have a nice E30 with some poke, but think your plans out fully.

Does it usually end in tears for those below 25 :-S ? What about aboveE30BeemerLad wrote:By all means, make plans and have a goal of what you want to do to your car. I'm not trying to pish on your ideas or enthusiasm.
But a modded E30 (especially with a 24v swap) and mods actually declared, is costly. I'm an old coont at 38 and my M52'd E30 with all mods declared and a full NCD of 10 years still cost me £500 fully comp.
Having the car registered to a parent and they insure it with you as a named driver is what is called "fronting" and it usually ends up in tears.
