when your in a line of traffic an the folk in the car beside you looking your car up an down give you a nod an the thumbs up
Every time you see it you cant help but smile
The reflection in windows looks immense
You can tell where it is in a row of cars because its the roof you cant see because its much lower
The fuel gauge shoots up to full and you have to tap it to tell you the truth
If you forget to put the window up after you've taken your keys out you just need to open the door
The car draws attention wherever you go.....good and bad.lol
When you get in and sink into that sports seat, the feel and that E30 smell just feels like home.
No matter how fast or technological a car is, once you get back in your E30 it just feels so right, theres nothing like them is there.

I do love spotting other E30's when i'm driving mine, always give them a flash or wave, sometimes i'm ignored, most of the time I get the same cheesy grin back.

When you have to pop out for a 5 minute drive down the road in the rain and dark to get a Banoffii pie for the pregnant missus and instead of taking her perfectly good Audi, or the perfectly good Transit (which was blocking in the E30) you choose to take the E30 instead despite the fact it has a slightly flat back tyre, virtually no petrol, dreadfull head lights and put up with starting it with a piece of wire under the bonnet as you still haven't got around to fitting the new locking system yet.
And you still enjoy it

1) People ask: "When are you going to get a proper car"
2) Creak. Rattle. Creak. Rattle. Repeat ad infinitum.
3) The parts guy at the delear says: "So you drive a 'proper' BMW then?'
4) Parking up for a prolonged period you always have in your mind how you may need to jump start the next time.
5) With a non cat 2.5 straight six, tunnels are your friend.
6) "It does that sometimes" becomes your most used phrase to explain to people your car's little foibles.
7) You check 'The Zone' more often than your emails.
(Incidentally, it's 'you're')

Because you're awesome.
When people look at your car either in a confused manner or with a look of admiration.
When the wife accepts your obsession and is past the complaining stage about time and money.
When the kids realise how much you love the car and find it hilarious to joke that they are going to lean their bmx bikes against it (the ones where the handlebar has poked through the rubber). Then think better of it.

An old woman (in her 60's) near me has an old white chromie cab and the first time i saw her she waved at me as I drove toward her, I couldn't believe it lol, so anytime I see her I flash my lights, at the end of the day that car means sortov the same to her as otherwise she would have something modern. But she still drives her e30, now that says it all imo

...anytime you come into any money (bonus, pay-rise, theft etc.)...all you can excitedly think is: what can I afford to put right next?
...you throw open the bedroom curtains at night anytime you hear the slightest noise to immediately scan your E30 for damage....and there never is.
...and hate the local (harmelss) cats for treading their muddy (& shitty) pawprints over your lovingly washed and waxed baby (especially as mine's an Alpine White)

Couldnt agree more with this one lol.George wrote:6) "It does that sometimes" becomes your most used phrase to explain to people your car's little foibles.
And when people laugh because of how old the car is and is no doubt rubbish, but quickly take it all back after going for a drive in it
When you're scared shÃtless that someone will give it bump and the insurance company will write it off instead of repairing it for 300 quid.
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....

When you get asked "is it worth spending all that money on"
or

I find it hilarious when I see people my age rolling around in shitty 1.6 106s/Saxos etc or 1.6/1.8 Golfs (that cost double what my e30 did) and paying the same insurance as me...

I'm a student, and my E30 has just had to go
Straight six fuel consumption does not agree with Student income

I really don't get how Students struggle so much with money. Massive loans, grants, bursaries etc. etc. and then wages on top... I'm loaded

When you waste silly amount of money putting petrol in a fuel guzzling underpowered car

"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."
Depends on the course tbh. The computing degree that I am on has a lot of overheads you need to pay out for. Even with healthy student discounts software is still a big chunk of money every 3 months. Also some of the programming books are eye wateringly expensive.cee wrote:So in other words, you're oldFelix79 wrote:See I'm a "mature" student lol , so my insurance costs £120 a year![]()

But I manage to run my 'pina which is not the most econimcal car but I don't care because it's the way these cars make you feel when you get a bit of clear road and some intresting gradiants and bends

I get that. I do engineering so books range from 60-150 and CAD software is definitely cheap. My main project is also turning out to be rather pricey...Felix79 wrote:...

Simple answer really. If you want more money, get more jobs.

+1 on torquey- I work all over the country and I hardly see any at all! Infact I was in milton keynes day before yesterday and from s.wales to milton keynes and back I only saw a green tourer.
Its great cos you would loose count of astra's, golfs, saxo's ect.
I've seen 3 e30's on all the jobs I've done over the last 4 months!
But when I do see 1 I get excited lol
