So has he disappeared completely? if he was a friend, did you have an address? know where he drinks? Joint aquaintences? or has he gone completely to ground. there must be a lead somewhere.whipsey wrote:he was originally a good freind of mine that turned out to be a major con artist he could talk all day long about how to do the job and appeared to be able to as soon as i found out the truth rob was informed which is why ive been on the case behind the scenes to make sure that the car didn't dissapearRanchero wrote:How did you find this guy? Sorry to see that Gooner.
The guy must be a real, full weight, genuine sh*t to do stuff like that to someone's pride and joy. Taking jobs on when you know you can't do them. That kinda stuff just ain't right.
Bad 'Karma' coming his way very soon I suspect.
Regards
David

Rob, I am so sorry to see the state your pride and joy is in, but atleast it's back in your possession.
Shaun, your an utter hero for getting it back.
Where about's was it when you recovered it?
Steve was very nice to your face, but even with my car it was clearly used and abused whilst it was in his hands.
Rob, if you need any help or anything i'll be over in a flash.
May I just ask who will be undertaking the repairs now, or do you not yet know? As I will have a dig around and try and find out what kind of a reputation they have, so this doesn't happen again.
Just to clear things up r.e my car it had a repair to the rear arch and passenger door, where it was rusting. All was just chocked full of filler, then sprayed in a very poor way. It currently looks a right state and is festering.
However all will be sorted by a 'proper' bodyshop.

Black?

did this guy do things very cheap or did he make out he was a pro? its bad that its been left in that state! i have a few "mates" who do stuff on the cheap but i know there not pro's and they make it known that i get what i pay for sort of thing but if this guy has said he will do a mint job an he has the skills to do it and has lied and left it in the current state he wants his knee caps replacing in the future imo!
E34 ///M5 THE BEST BMW EVER BUILT?

Find the twat, chain him up round the neck and make him do the car properly in any location you deem fit and under 24 hour surveillance of zoners. Keep him there till its done perfectly.
Oh and only feed him fish food, dog biscuits and watered down paint. I'd say he'd do it in about a week then. If not, he'll learn quickly.
Seriously though, gutted for you mate. Some twats in this world aren't there... glad to see your gonna continue forward!

OMG
This is really bad news mate, i hope you finally get it sorted and justice serves itself soon. What a coount, did he just leave it outside in the rain with the bonnet up? What is all that black stuff all over the inlet manifold and how the hell did he get paint all over you seats like that not to mention the overspray!? How someone actually carries work out this bad and dares to offer his services to the public is beyond belief. He'd probably struggle in stacking shelves judging by the state of his workshop...

I can prep and paint. I did my own cab below the waistline and the rear panel on my e39. But I know my limits. I'm no professional. Theres no way I'd put my name to a job thats below par.
Yes the punter gets what he pays for but the vast amount of new work in the body work game, comes from recomendations from previous work. Surely if it's a sub standard "you get what you pay for mate" kinda job, anyone looking to get work done will look at an example and say "fook that, look at the prep marks in the paint / look at the overspray in the shuts / look at the p1ss poor masking"? Regardless of "well I only paid £XX.XX for the job". No one actually wants a shite job surely?

Mate that is just horrible sitting here reading thru this thread and slowly getting really mad that someone could do that , I have no parts to offer but I would love to be on the team to hand out the punishment when you find him, what a cock , if at anytime you need anther pair of hands give us a call only a few miles down the road in Leighton Buzzard.

Firstly many thanks to all tht have offered parts, help etc.
I won,t say you have restored my faith in human nature, because i already knew
there are decent, genuine people out there.
Secondly, yes i did see work that this person had seemingly done.
It now turns out that it was,nt his work at all.
I fully accept part responsibility in this, i went for the cheapest quote of 3 i got.
Partly through financial restraints, partly through this persons plausibility.
A lesson to all there.
What i don,t accept is the way my car was treated, abandoned and used as a fecking skip.
The car is now undergoing a total rub down to bare metal, pictures will be supplied
and depending on what is found, repairs carried out.
Stuff like the Number plate lights etc can be replaced, i,m a little more concerned
about the loss of the seams at the rear. Pretty confident the rear arch inners and rear quarter
welding was done correctly, as the little shi* did,nt carry out this work.
It will be resurected, which is pretty ironic given the time of the year presently,
whatever it costs.

not a nice experience but i'm sure at the shows this season, you'll be looking at your pride and joy, thinking "all's well that ends well" and lesson learned, etc.

Ollie, car was left in a puddle surrounded by building materials next to the wooden units in the yard!
Well, good news is weve found the joins in the rear panel again!! Although on the o/s its been welded flat but should be fixable!
o/s rear quarter had holes in welding and was only held in place by filler at the bottom so looks like half a job there as well. The new panel hadnt been keyed either so paints just peeling off in strips round the arch! Looks like hes painted it, then re-primered it an repainted it though, also looks like different types of paint hes used.
Whipsey has pics to add later to keep all this documented, an theyll be absolutely loads to keep track of progress
