we used to find the main dealer would sell old parts for much less than the list price just to get rid.
toyota even donated thousands of pounds worth of obsolete parts to the owners club for free just for a clear out but when the list for front brake calipers is £600 10 years ago theres not much chance of them getting shifted for that.
whats the chances of bmw doing something similar to help the 'classics'?

You could buy five E34's for that!
They were £300 last time I looked 8O
And £175 the time before that (approx 2 years ago)

Slim. I would guess most of it will get punted back to Bracknell, and after X amount of time shipped back to Germany.

Interested to hear the process for Mobile Tradition though. There's a few parts I want that are NLA

AFAIK any non collected parts that have been ordered from Germany become the property of the dealer, if they have a 'clear out' it all gets sold to one of the known local BMW specialist types

This is how I got my brand new Recaro seat coverings that have been NLA for over 5 years :)

half an e30 M3 cost ? too much, ok it wasnt too bad when i bought the 2 inner wings, one chassis rail, front pannel , scuttle, rear pannel , battery tray and some other parts. i think it all came to £2000.

e24 parts, well thats a different game all together. wings are up to £600 each 8O

I bought a whole new fitted carpet for my M635CSi for £100 from my BMW dealer. Firstly having it was good and secondily I thought the price was okay too.

Bet a lot of car companies wouldn't have carpets in stock for their 20 year old models.

That sounds very cheap. Maybe a part they had had for a while and just wanted rid?

That's awesome but again, shows the lack of logic - why is an E30 carpet £400+ when tons more were made...?

It was shipped from Germany and delivered FOC by Cotswolds. Even got discount on it.

Its Lotus White, so you can imagine what my orginal Lotus White carpet is looking like after 20 years. They must have made less than 200 E24 635's with a lotus white interior so amazing they had at least one original carpet in stock.

Supports theme of this thread - no consistency to BMW's prices.

2 years ago i was quoted £1,000 for a PAS pump.
It was for an E34 525i touring with self levelling rear suspension.

All built now though so happy days

It' only going to get worse...

The E30 is going through a transition period at the moment. It won't be too long before it becomes a seriously desireable classic car.

So we better all lube up....

You think? I'd say that was a long way off. There's too many of them.

There's a lot of scrap out there. Rotten and owned by people who can't/won't restore them. Once they become un-MOTable they'll be scrapped.

It won't be long before a huge swathe of E30's starts disappearing...... rapidly.

Great if you've got a good un. :D

Original, smaller engined cars will be the first to come into their own I think. What with the amount of engine swaps going on anything sub 2.5 is going to become scarce. I know the zone only represents a small part of E30 ownership but there are probably people who aren't on the zone also doing swaps.

Nothing finer than a nice clean 318i Bronzit 2 or 4 door on bottletops - charm on wheels.
