My E46 coupe is my daily driver. Having a 100 mile round trip for work means I need something a bit more economical than the E30. Nice to have a few luxuries and gadgets too.

The E30 probably gets used every other week and I always make sure its for a long trip rather than a 2 mile supermarket run. The rest of the time it sits in the garage whilst the E46 takes the brunt of winter!

Interesting topic.

I bought my e30 last week, specifically to it use as a daily.
After 4yrs (35k+) soild driving in the escRot it was time to give it a rest and lavish some love on it.
Its nice going out to the car in the morning and not once doubting that it will start :D

God its slow though.

to me it's priceless, though in reality it's more likely to be worthless! i couldnt give a stuff what it 'could' be worth if i garaged it, there's too much fun to be had on every journey for that!

Does anyone remember the old Nissan primera advert, where the husband gets up to drive to work even though he works from home. . .

That's how I feel, living 3/4 mile from work. It takes longer to get the car out of the garage and then park at the other end than to walk, let alone cycle. . .

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

My e30 is the back up car, when the newer ones break, fail mots etc. Its always there, always starts. I like it more in this role as you enjoy it more when you use it once a week not everyday.
