I gotta say that it's up to them what they do with it.

But I've also got to agree with Hap on this one. A normal early Sport interior (as Hap's has got) for Ԛ£150 for a minter, some paint, chrome bumpers (easy to come by) and the Cow catcher for the front, and you've got a complete Alpina that's worth hell of a lot more than you forked out for it.

But if you wanna use it for track work, then enjoy!

i know im gonna get slated for this.... but for gods sake its only a bloody C1/......... which waas gonna die anyway and is worth squat cos of the fact its a welded turd!!!!! i mean if it was a hartge H27SP (rare as fook) or something else that would be sad.... but its a 2.3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this car has been on ebay before and i did consider it myself for track purposes but felt it wasnt even good enough for that cos of the limp engine in it..... this car has been standing like this in primer for a LONG time i reckon and even the owner admits the welding is 'reasonable'(ie my 8yo son did it with his pretend welding set)

anyway at Ԛ£500 its cheap and would make an ideal track car... however i say sell the alpinas use the cash to buy some BBS sray em black, cage it, polybush and suspension, buckets, brakes, but leave the engine in there as it is apparently healthy. ull save ureself time and be able to get on track earlier rather tan tossing about with the car...

just TRACK it, as it was onviously far gone if its had its sills done!!!

were gona use the original engine untill we can find a decent phase one lump. then the C1 unit will be sold.

already have bbs for it anyways i have a set we can use untill funds allow me to replace them.

And even if we tow it to shows we do it will be on stands on alpinas cos i take the ones off nemo and run nemo on the bbs for that

if the car was a c27 then we would probably save it but its on a c1

ITs just tragic,

A rare car like that being killed off is just criminal!

I dont suppose we would expect Karan to understand! (He killed a 318is and M5)

LOL was waiting for that/........

u wanna know what is tragic...... an e28 m5 being ripped apart and all the pipes etc being cut to remove the lump breaker stylee........lie happened to one i wanted bits off..... now thats a rare car~!!!!!

In this case i dont think it matters as the car was shagged neway-surely u can see that demlot......

i doubt many are left now....... i reckon the 325 coming out kind of made them a pointless exercise. They look cool though when all liveried and metal bumpered up theres no doubt. :cool: alpina striping on all alpinas up to and including the c1 prefacelift was the tits...... :cool:

certainly alot rarer than my 2.7, i wud say they are as rare as the c2 2.5 so my guesstimate is less than 20, if you look at alpina website the c1 2.3 was made bewteen 8/83 to 11/85 (before the 325i came out)...35 produced in germany so id say the same amount in them years was done at styners for RHD

i have only seen about 4 in mags/sale on trader etc

I just sat here for 20 mins reading this for the first time.

Everyone in my office is looking at me because im spontaneously laughing..........this si the best thread ever since me and Gumball used to argue.

Anyway,

The C1.

Firstly Karan should keep quiet because he pulled apart two very special cars to make one very not special car which is going to be very special when it comes to going fast. 8)

Its no ones business what chaos does with HIS car. If he wants to track it let him!

To restore that car properly it would cost loads of money. You wouldnt want a cheap job done, would cost min Ԛ£1500-Ԛ£2000 on paint alone.
Then youve got bumpers, fixings, interior + god knows what else.

Youd end up spending Ԛ£4000 on it!!

whats it worth even in mint condition?

I would not personally recommend anyone to sort this car out unless they own a bodyshop and have lots of quailty parts to hand at very cheap prices.

Anyway, good luck making it into a track car guys! Fit an Alpina front spoiler and get some 8 J rears on there. Wil make the car handle really well on a track as the wider rears act like a rear anti roll bar andit takes serious abuse to get the back end out.

dude........ lets not get into me pulling apart 2 special cars.....we've discussed this before and the m5 was beyond saving unless ure really sad!

and the end product will be very very special...... it depends what u think special is....... a one-off or a limited run(eg m5/318iS)

Simon13-you have made many valid points here-some of which i wholehartedly agree with

Its a fairly rare car, and if it was mine i'd try and return it to stock......


HOWEVER, it aint my car-it belongs to chaos, and TBH, as long as he gets it fit to run, and enjoys it, I couldnt care less what mods he does or what he uses it for :cool: :cool:

Rather it was in the hands of someone who had a plan for it rather than some down and out drug dealing chav

The Pumas the best car ive ever owned and ive only had it about 3 weeks 8O A perfect balance of all things, ok so its driven by the front wheels and has two less cylinders than it should but everything else is faultless :P

I do feel very fortunate to have had the M50 too, in its own way it was an amazing car and i wont forget it!

But anyway :offtopic: This is meant to be Track Slag Pina Vs Costy Restore Pina! :mad:

tho i'll answer yours anyways.

no its not all it means to me, but look at it from my point of view.

myself and richy bought this car (following consultation with a few ppl) to use as a track car - we get sh*t about that from a few other ppl.
Now if we consider restoring it we dont want to keep it - eg we want a track car so the alpina wud need to be sold on. As such the value of the car is somewhat important, as we arent going to throw money at this only to lose out financially - if we did that we cudnt have a track car or at least not to the spec we want.

I wont try and say that money isnt important, cos it bl**dy well is.
Atm im not working properly - (the car i use as a freelance courier is out of action) so i need to keep a hold of what money i have, or maybe make a bit so i can afford my insurance and petrol etc.

The funny thing is i dont see scott or jonb or others being slated for buying cars and selling the bits to make a few Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£ (and nor do i think they shud be) so why shud it be any different if i buy some cheap cars and sell them on for closer to their true value?

IF you want a track car why buy an alpina? You dont seem to understand what everyone is getting at, in effect what you are doing is trying to get something for nothing, you are hopping that by selling off the genuine alpina bits the car will pay for it self, and that is very selfish especially if you have read Haps post, he says there could be less than 20 of these cars left.

If you had any respect for these cars you would have thought other wise when buying the car.

But tell me, who gets hurt exactly? cos from what i can see its no one.

We sell off the bits and maybe a genuine car will stay on the roads.

The car is beyond restoration. As Sal has said to do it properly would cost thousands, i havent got thousands of pouds spare - have you? And if i did the cost of restoration wud exceed the value of car - i cant afford to take a loss like that, nor can richy - can anyone of us ????

besides its not like loadsa others bid on it either

Your entitled to your opinion, but in mine this has lost too many parts and needs too much spending on it to ever be considered a good example of an alpina ever again.

I ask you this - how many of you would jump at the chance of a "free car" eg something for nothing?

you work hard but still struggle, and then the offer of something like this comes along and you can buy the car and sell on the bits to get your money back and end up with in effect a cheap or maybe even free track car.



Oh and demlot, im still waiting for the value figure.

Sorry if its off topic Chaos but with my M50 car i got to the point where modding it further would become uneconomical and i decided to sell while i could break even (i made a small loss) and the buyer was some rich guy who wanted a track car. Does that make me selfish too boys? :roll:

Come on guys this is getting silly now, it may not be getting restored, but its still an alpina at heart, just an alpina track car thats going to get well looked after.

But, the fact is it's up the the owner of the car what they wish to do with it, if people cared that much, then you should have bought it.

Lets look at it another way, the zone seem quite clued up about E30s for sale, so why did no one else see this car and buy it?

When it comes down to it we can all talk till we're blue in the face about restore, heritage and appreciating old cars or even tracking them, breaking them, burning them in the back garden but its the guy whos put his money where his mouth is that matters in the end unfortunately!

all you and everyone else are seeing is alpina

its been gutted anyways

And yes i would love to restore it but when i take a restoration on it wont be sorce some cheap seats cheap spray job and its done

it will be replace everything to much or more the same extent as scot with his sport. And then were talking at least 4k upwards and please dont say this is bullshit cos scot has spent thousands and his sport no where near ready.

i havent the space to do this or a garage or the cash
so you see retoring it is totaly unvialble finacialy for me anyways.
if i had a gargae and then i might have thought more about it and maybee got nick round to it but it really isnt possible to do that so thats why its being tracked

So lets get back to the thread about thecar and no more slagging off because it starting to fucking piss me off.

Thing is it isnt gona be a shitty looking track car the car will have moeny spent on it over a perior of time anywas and long term will be a better car than the c1 was to behgin with
