I'm running TOYO T1Rs 205/55/15 good wet or dry, had 2 punctures though :( from www.mytyres.co.uk very usefull, had 4 sets off them now always good service. Have done 10000 miles over 2 years, including 25 dry laps of the nurburgring, and are about 2/3rds worn, open diff and never wheelspinning

For those of you worried about your speedos', the difference between 205/55/15 and 205/50/15 is 3%. ie if your speedo says 100mph you'll be doing 97mph, at 30mph you'll be doing 29.1mph.

It's easy to work out your rolling diameter 3.142 x ( (rim in inches x 25.4) + (2 x tyre width x profile) )

as an example standard 205/55 r15 3.142 x ( (15 x 25.4 ) + (2 x 205 x 0.55 ) ) = 1905.6mm

Checked my speedo on standard wheels against 2 different gps systems and the speedo reads high about 3-4 mph across 0-70mph and gets worse as speed increases, reading 5-6 mph above 100mph, on a private road officer!! exactly the same result on the two E36's I've had as well.

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

They are 15mths old (June 07) and have covered a bit under 15K miles...

Make of that what you will, but I'd say the wear rate wasn't brilliant...
If I get something like that out of my new Toyo's, I'll be well pleased. I don't fancy the idea of tyres that last 3-and-a-half years and 45k miles like my last ones. The side walls are starting to show their age and for my own peace-of-mind I should have changed them 6 months ago, but they've still got 3mm on them.
I have less of a problem with replacing tyres every 12-18 months than I do with the thought of what could happen due to rubber fatigue.

205/50x16 is the one you want. It's as near as you can get to 205/55x15.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

I had Falkens and they were completely useless in anything worse than a drizzle, alright in the dry.

I now have Dunlop Sport Maxx fitted all round, and they are superb!! It feels like my car is on rails rain or shine.
I can throw my car around in the wet and it just sticks.

My brother has Dunlop SP9000's and they're quite good too, but I'd go with the Sport Maxx over the SP9000's.
