Thanks Spadge, it's one thing having a Sport pinched and another thing altogether having an RS500 taken - you must have been distraught, and altogether more remarkable that you retrieved it after all that time 8O

Kind of puts me off sporty motors, might get a doggy diesel turd to rattle around in now...

Thanks Johnno. What's weird is it seems to have disappeared without trace - still no sightings so far; quite a feat in this age of ANPR, CCTV, etc :?

Also a bit ironic, as it had better security than any of my previous three E30s, mind you, two of those were chromey L-jetronic 320i's!

i was thinking exactly the same thing dude, just forgot to type it :o:

Is very odd to disappear without a trace

Yep, I'm guessing it was taken in the dead of night and hidden in a lockup/garage for stripping down or disguising. It's also possible it may have ended up in a container and shipped abroad as Dover isn't far...

Unlikely its gone abroad surely? Its not worth going through all that effort for.
More than likely nicked for someone as a donor car or some little fukks used it to drive around in for a night then burnt it in a field far far away :x
Either way it may only be found by chance.
Really sorry to hear this dude. I would be distraught! :(

Yeah, guess it wouldn't be of much value in mainland Europe being RHD. The thought of it being burnt out is a depressing one :(

Where do you stand with the insurance company then? How long do you have to wait before they pay out for the car, assuming it isnt found?

Car is insured with Hagerty, classic car policy, agreed value - I've only just transferred my insurance to them, from a normal TPF&T policy, and had only just sent the photos for agreed value when this happens.

Not sure where I stand exactly, or how long I have to wait for it to possibly be found - I've never had to claim for a whole car before...

Gutted for ya...

If any nice suspicious Sports turn up over here being sold abit too cheaply we'll let you know too.
The idea of some people going around lifting E30s to be returned all minty is a nice thought, lol.

I think you will find its 4 to 6 weeks, from memory, before they write it off Cliffy. Certainly not 6 months.

Thanks for the info, Spadge. Took another tour about my area today including some tucked-away country lanes and no sign of it, though I did spot a cool matt black Dodge Coronet on mag alloys lurking menacingly down one of them

I can't see it being 6 months either. It would take the piss to wait 6 months for money for another car.

Sorry to hear of your loss Speedtouch. :(

I appreciate the chances are extremely thin but for what it's worth I'll keep an eye out in midlands. I'm so sorry for you. Most e30's truly are a labour of love. :(

Cheers guys. I had put in quite a bit of work, as had the previous owner, Flappysocks. I had planned to do alot more to it this summer with the intent of getting it to a good standard for the 25th Anniversary E30 shows, but this has all been quashed, and it appears another rare 325i Sport bites the dust thanks to petty tea-leaves

I'm pleased to report that I found the car half an hour ago, abandoned up the other end of town - I think the low petrol level in the tank put off the joyrider!!

Car appears undamaged and drives OK. The council helpfully stuck a couple of parking tickets on the windscreen however, yet somehow the police weren't made aware of it. :?

Many thanks again to you folks who've been looking out for it :P

Yep, I'm over the moon about it. Driver's door was left unlocked, but no sign of any damage to steering lock :D

Cheers Gareth,
I'm guessing they must either have picked it somehow or had a key that fitted; are E30 locks as bad as 80's Fords in that respect?'

i'm not aware of any lock problems... not really tried though!
when me and my bro used to hack around in mk1 and mk2 escorts, we could use each others keys  and my mate used to save pocket space when he owned a triumph herald by using his front door key for the car too!
might be worth investing in a new lock set, just on the off chance that some local twat tried his and found it would work :?
or the thing that has always concerned me with buying and running a car bought locally, could the previous owner have a spare set?

Good points well made Gareth. Car was purchased from way down South and I have both sets of keys for it, though someone somewhere must have the emergency wallet key

Hey that would be me! 8)

It's a bit crap the car got parking tickets, but the traffic wardens didn't know it was stolen. Surly they are computerised these days?
