shame about the councilness it looks like it would have been a nice carsnoops wrote:heres my dads 15th March 1983 'Y' e30, originally a 320 auto but been converted to a 325i some time in its life
styling wasn't to our taste but the running gear was sound, was just bought to use as a runaround until 2008 despite being only 30mm off the ground, as the running gear will be going into another facelift shell
a few things were done to lower the councilness by 1% like removing the shopping list on the side and the hideous grill![]()

I love the picture, quite appropriate some anti chrome types might say !Alex wrote:here was my 1984 318i before it was fraged
it had rusted that badly the windscreen, boot, sunroof, and various places behind the dash leaked .The sunroof channels had rotted away and water just poured in ( had to tape sunroof up lol) the floor had rotten away almost. and the car had no rear arches left coz they had rotten away. but i still have the leather interior out of it![]()
Such a great looking car. There were so many of these around in the eighties and everybody wanted one. BMW could never build enough.Alex wrote:

As it was re registered over 20 years ago from its original number of UBL 44Y then I don't mind the number been displayed.old_skool_2002 wrote:Lovely.hennabm wrote:Andyboy may have the oldest 320i but not roadworthy. March 15th 1983 would be the month E30's were launched in the UK, that's one of the earliest. 7435001 is the first RHD E30, what number is your old mans? It might just be the oldest RHD E30 on the road.![]()
Chrome Rules! How about the ChromeZone?
That's number 29 then - probably the oldest E30 in use until recently. That's older than any of the 320i press cars. It was almost certainly built on the first day of RHD production, same as 001 and it would have been in the first batch across on the big boat. What a pity.snoops wrote:its 7435030 but unfortunately no TAX and will be going to the metal man in a month or two

I'm wondering what happened to 7435000Andyboy wrote:That's number 29 then - probably the oldest E30 in use until recently. That's older than any of the 320i press cars. The 320i's were built first, the 323i's after a few days and the RHD 316 started in January 1983.
Why is it going to be scapped? How rotten is it?snoops wrote:its 7435030 but unfortunately no TAX and will be going to the metal man in a month or two
This is the puppy!darkchild wrote:I remember reading on here once that it was believed somebody had one of the old TRX press cars in storage somewhere. I'll see if I can dig out the thread.
scuttle is mint, front and rear valances not bad, arches not bad either, floorpan has its fair share too its the sides closest to the rear wheel arches that are gonebss325i wrote:Why is it going to be scrapped? i've removed the kit now, i'll take a picture later and put it up
In that thread the question is asked why UBL has side repeaters and other Y platers don't.darkchild wrote:This is the puppy!darkchild wrote:I remember reading on here once that it was believed somebody had one of the old TRX press cars in storage somewhere. I'll see if I can dig out the thread.
