Clarkson isn't really a fan of BMW.

You'd have more chance trying to get something on "Fifth Gear", VBH loves modded cars and Tiff would be fun to watch powersliding one round a track before announcing they are giving a "mint" version away....

I have also bben thinking about this...
WE need to really think about it first, come up with a good idea, something different, and that they have not done before.

Track is all well and good, but if we can give it some kind of theme...other than e30's to really catch their inspiration it may just work.

Don't think we have to worry about clarkson not liking bmw's...at least we are not a Vauhaul club......and he is not the be end end all of top gear.

Would it be possible to make this a sticky, so we can post ideas up? Then when we think we have some really good one(s) then contact them.

Lets not rush it!

I not 100% but I'm pretty sure one of my mates has done filming on top gear, was a little while ago when VBH was still on it. HE is def freindly with the guy who own the Pick up with the camerea on the back that they used (still do) to use for filming. I shall investigate this further, to see if there are any contacts.........

I reckon there will be more chance with 5th gear too TBH, but as someone pointed out, how many clubs are there vying for this sort of thing, and the zone is "relatively" new on the scene, albeit with some good exposure thus far....

As for a big zone meet, this takes a hell of a lot of organisation and the cost of a venue will be pretty steep I would imagine. The Brooklands meet is going to be a big one, but is very South for alot of people... Then there is Gaydon which should see a big zone presence this time around I would hope too...

Good idea that adam.
Only problem being if you want to get tickets for top gear you need to have an equal amount of males and females in your group there a bit funny about this, tickets are free and you get them form a company on the net called http://www.applausestore.com/

i have been trying for 2 series to get tickets still waiting.

A few people have hit the nail on thew head here. We need to come up with something a bit different, something that will draw their attention and not rush into it contacting them with something like "will you feature our car club". The answer would quite clearly be a firm "no".

We are rapidly growing and I think I can safely say that I don't know of any other car club which is verging on 4,500 members in only a short space of time especially something as retro as the E30.

We definately don't want to come across to them as a boyracer image where a bunch of lads tart up some old bangers.

If anyones got any unique ideas then post up here, I'll sticky the topic for a while and if anyones good at persuasive writing (PeteE30Tourer) then perhaps someone might like to volunteer contacting them or drafting a letter (probably be best coming from the site admin).

It would certainly be interesting to see how the likes of Ian's car would stand up to thte test track on their board of lap times. I bet it would be closer to the top than the bottom!

If anyone is going to be in the audience for Topgear would it be possible for them to get a T-shirt printed up with the web address of the zone on it or at least " E30 Zone". Free advertising and you might spark some researchers interest while your there?

I suggested crail as its an x air field. Has plenty of space and you can have a track day or a 1/4mile blast day. or both.

Crail regularly hosts Max Power/Fast Car etc

Its easy enough to organise and all we need is numbers !

Would love to see a few hundred e30s on the runway....

Cna we please try organising meets in the correct section and stop hijacking this thread as a scotland meet has nothing to do with the subject.

Thanks

Not much good for those who live in the south though so it's not a very good suggestion and if you want to arrange a meet there then please continue this in the meets section. Cheers

Not much good if its south for all the people that live north then is it ? !

In other words it dont suit you !

Was a mere suggestion, location dont bother me was just the principle of the idea.

No promises, but if someone could mail me with the prefered Zone a/w for a 't' shirt I could look into getting one printed, unless someone can supply such ready done... I'll be in the audience for filming on 8th June...
