Only drawbacks are that you can't see past them, so effectively your driving blind, also it usually pisses people off & is actually illegal known as tail gating, which can carry a hefty fine if court doing by the smarmy government revenue increasing unit's out on the roads today!

That sounds a bit hairy 8O Could cost you alot more than you save if the bus/lorry in front suddenly stops...

More top tips are to use tomato ketchup instead of alloy wheel cleaner, vinegar to derust parts, newspaper to dry off windows after washing to prevent smears, silicone sealant to disguise cracked suspension bushes come MOT time.

Actually did this once.. Drove a 320i from Bristol to Derbyshire (150 odd miles) with a massive hole between pistons 3&4 on the head gasket.. Didn't realise at the time, ofc, but commented that must be what its like driving a 1.3 E30

I Drive an HGV, although not a tanker, but my uncle does. He carries Non-hazardous stuff like oil and stuff, but i know his tanker trailer holds 38,000 litres. It doesn't look that much different to a petrol tanker in size, so i would say it's about that much.

EDIT:
Best way to save money is get a finance deal on a 25 punds per week, new model fiesta diesel and drive that around, spending all the money you save on the e30. Get a really cheap classic insurance quote based on 5,000 miles a year and on the rare occasion that the e30 is all up and running, ready for the roads you should enjoy every minute of it - if it breaks, you're not off the road. AFter 3 years your e30 should be in such fine condition, being hardly used much and spent a lot on, it should be able to return to being a daily driver and you can give back the financed car without owing anything more, maybe even get a couple of grand out of the sale of it, which can then be spent taking the e30 on the drive that you've promised yourself for the last 3 years; Mont Blanc, Sierra Mountains, Monte carlo etc.

I admit it takes some getting your head around but when you look at the running costs annualy, it does add up well and the daily vehicle virtually never lets you down.

edit - maybe 15,000 as thats about 13 tons of fuel.
Max gross train wieght will be 44 tonne. Rig will weigh maybe as much as 18 tonne,so payload is 44-18=26 tonne.Petrol weighs 7.95lb per gallon...my head hurts, over to the maths experts...

26 tonne is metric is it not (ton would be imperial)?
1 tonne = 1000kg

so petrol weighs 7.95lbs per UK gallon which is 3.61kg
((26 * 1000) / 3.61) = 7202.20 gallons

1 UK gallon = 4.55L
7202.20 * 4.55 =

= 32770.01 Litres

Assumptions:
when you stated mass of gallon it was a UK gallon and not US gallon.

water is about 1kg per litre depending on impurities, fuel is about 0.8kg per litre depending on type and constituants.

therfore 15000 litres is about 12000kg depending on type.

im sure the av gas trailers i used to work on were 15000 litres, might not be a standard for size though as they were french. 8O

Exactly what I did :D I used to drive new cars changing them every 9 months doing approx 25,000 a year ! For the last 2 years i've had a Fiesta Diesel, by doing this I have bought and modified my E30 for almost nothing, 53,000 miles and still doing 60mpg :D
