What to do with this C2 2.5 Alpina??
Moderator: martauto
Well ive just been down the garage and he's decided to weld the car, clean it up before selling it. It needs a sill and the front corners welding. He's put the alloys and plate on his mk1 325 m-tech and no matter what i say wont leave them on the alpina. So watch this space for updates.
Yup, you're (partly) right, my bad. The C2 is a 323i crank in an Eta block (the same as the 325i block after 6/85) and 2554cc with special Mahle pistons. Late ones used a stock 325i bottom end but this one should have the 2554 motor - just look at the engine number to see if it uses a BMW bottom end or an Alpina one. I've seen a mint one owner Convertible C2 2.5 with a BMW engine number so when Alpina ran out of 2554 engines they just used the next best thing. Exactly when, I haven't a clue. I'd say around 1987 and the plastic bumper cars.kidsinister wrote:The bottom end is NOT standard 325i; you're thinking of the C2.5.Andyboy wrote:The best plan? Don't kill it. Find a tidy 2 door plastic bumper 325i in decent condition and swap all the bits over - that's head/cam (the bottom end is a standard 325i),.
The C2 2.5 engine is similar to the 2.7 in that it has a eta block, with Mahle pistons.
The C2.5 was a cam, exhaust and ECU and based on the plastic bumper 325i and it was a bolt on engine conversion plus 7x16 inch Alpina wheels with 205/60 tyres, Alpina spoilers, wheel and knob. The C1 2.5 was exactly the same thing but was based on the chrome bumper car with the higher compression and early type Motronic and they're both rated at 190 brake. The C1 2.5 had an LSD and Bilstein suspension plus a build plaque and was a proper full on conversion.
Spadge - you're slipping! For £1000 I'd want the Alpina wheels with it too! My 2 door C1 2.3 (with a Griffin 2.7) cost me a grand with the original wheels. It was a rotten piece of shit but it was on the road with an MOT with it's original bits. And it went like a f****** rocket.

That's a mistake. If he's taken the wheels, he may as well part the rest of it out. Removing the wheels devalues it even further; even welded up it'll be harder to shift incomplete.un1eash wrote:Well ive just been down the garage and he's decided to weld the car, clean it up before selling it.
