fair enough i suppose there is a time in everyone's life you have to be mature at some things, not sure i'd trust myself in that position though lol

Oh it wasnt planned , but i wouldnt go back , any way i can still be a bit reckless at times , when she aint in the car that is , and the misses understands that i will never give up the E30 ! !
Ive got 3 of them and she paid for 2 of them so im in no danger of her saying "Thats it , no more"

Funny you should say that , i had 2x320 4 doors, and a mint 318 cab came my way for 3 k , i wasnt sure on the price and nearly got the other half to get it when i spotted my 325 at auction for Ԛ£460.
I decided the 325 was the way to go , and i reckon i made the right choice , cos its fookin mental compared to the 320 !
It needs a bit of attention , nothing major or mechanical , just the usual bits and bobs , but i could have done a lot worse things with Ԛ£460 !

All i want you to tell me is that this little sumfin is an M5 lump !
That would really make my day , but if it isnt ....come on give us a clue.
I know what your gonna say....."Your gonna have to wait for the Taunton meet"
By the way are you going to it ? , i think i saw it on here that you were , and thanks for letting me know about it the other day , oops i forgot to reply to you . I hope to be going but i reckon my clutch is on its last legs, the boy has become really hard and is a right git to select gear when cold, and if that aint enough , it popped out of 1st twice on me the other day !
Shouldnt be a prob cos i used to work at DJ Transmissions and i think the boss owes me one anyway

some thoughts for you
an alarm will never stop a thief. ever. they just make a noise that's all. if you get to your car before the noise starter runs away are you willing to stand for charges of assault? and what if he's harder than you? you get broken limbs and lose your car. all alarms are good for is reducing insurance premiums, but insurance is only any good if it's legit - so have you phoned your insurance company and told them that you've installed ice? alpinas? alarm? (they'll give you a month to get the alarm fitted)
immobilisors stop the car (hopefully) but are fairly easily constructed if you can join wires together and find some crucial feeds e.g. fuel pump
a flashing led on the dash will fool anyone into thinking there's an alarm there. (wire it via your hidden immobilisor switch.) they cost all of about 4 quid and really should be put in place of whatever alarm immobilisor led is provided - seeing as 'toad' or 'clifford' written by the led tells any potential thief what he's got to overcome (half way there!)
a visible deterrent works wonders - if on a budget then thread a sturdy chain through the seat frame and through the steering wheel. better though to buy a 'disklok' and use it every time you leave the car without fail. they are a bitch to overcome, apparantly.
i guess that your head unit has a removable fascia - remove it every time you leave the car. don't sling it in the glovebox or under the seat - thieves will smash a window and look for it.
speakers are only a target if thieves know they are there. get some matching trim and make some covers for them so they are hidden from view of passers by. use them every time you leave the car!
lastly - park with handbrake on and wheels turned and steering lock engaged thus preventing an easy lift and tow.
so having spent about 80 quid (disklok - 70, led - 4, wires - 3 and switch - 2) you'll have an immobilised car that looks like it's alarmed and a disklok to deterr any chancers. worth considering.

I quite like clifford alarms. Go onto clifford.co.uk and have a look.

cheers adam, i'm chuffed at making it into a mag!
yep the disklok product is available in garish yellow or slightly more subtle silver from halfrauds and other (dis)reputable dealers, rrp Ԛ£70. came top in the product tests for security items in the modified mags, they failed to get past it in 5 minute attacks and reckoned it would require some fairly serious power tool usage to bust. i have an idea as to how i'd get round it but i'd probably end up damaging the dash and the wheel too.
i've been using some form of physical theft deterrent for some years now and it's become second nature/habit. i start the engine and as it warms/pushes oil up and over the top i remove the steering lock and speaker covers.
