optimax, is like super unleaded, so with octane booster, it would be like super super unleaded, if you get my drift

If you buy, say an alternator from a vehicle dismantler you WILL be paying VAT on it, again.Cant pay vat on something twice.
Most scrappies let you roam around and help yourself, I'm sure we've all had 'the VAT back' on those pocket sized items ;)

additives yes, octane booster no, otherwise the octane rating (RON number) would be over 97 and into the 100's nearlt, wich is excessivley high.

I think legally he owns the entire vehicle including the contents (which i presume includes fuel) plus the vat + excise has already been paid on the fuel anyway at original purchase, so if there is vat it something in the course of business of the guy, so doubt if its illegal unless he is not vat registered(IMO)

well ur a mine of useless and incorrect information.m1key wrote:is a difference of 1.7 points between optimax & super.
as a suggestion why dont u read this thread again from the beggining, theres some information in here about Optimax that u might want to read.
For starters its NOT based on SUL and its octane rating aka RON number is not stable and whilst it CAN be up to 1.8 points higher than SUL this is NOT guaranteed.
tell me does anyone know why some ppl dont read the entire thread before posting

no they dont.m1key wrote: Just confirmed with my father... When he is doing runs of optimax, they load Super and an aditive.
As i have previously stated Opticrap is actually regular unleaded 95 ron petrol with added additives
it is NOT based on SUL
this is backed up by the fact that it uses the same BS number (british standards) as regular unleaded and not the SUL one. The reason for this is because over time it degrades back towards its 95 ron basis.
this information isnt exaclty a secret, its been known now for several yrs.
all the major uk forums know it.
scoobynet, passionford, gtr.co.uk, migweb and oh yeah the shell optimax forum

whats the point in researching something and posting it up if someone else doesnt bother to read what other ppl have said and then goes on to make a definitive statement in the thread thats actually totally incorrect ?

Back on topic:
I don't know if this is still true but back when I was invlolved with Formula V single seater racing we found that Esso had the most consistent octane rating, while shell would have differing ratings.
