I was 165 on the rollers with a standard 325i, put a Zone chip on and went back to the RR. was 5hp down on standard. Ant had a look, messed about with the WOT switch and it now feels a lot quicker but not been back on a RR. I would hope its near to standard 170hp

'88 325iSE, with earlier 'E'-type high-compression engine, previously had a Zone Mild chip which gave an indicated 140 units of speed before I converted to a Miller MAF; not sure of power output but goes well for a 19 year old! :)

its just that i keep seeing post like this, and people going on about their big power cars, but they never turned up to santa pod last year, and personaly i think half of them wont last more than a couple of runs, and the amount over inflated power estimates as well, never proven on a set of rollers is amusing !

i've said similar things in my post on the thred about "ten of the best"
My dad will be going down the strip and hopefully plenty of track days and shows this year

Could see there being arguements whether people compare their cars on a strip or a rolling road.

All we ever get to hear about are the two headline figures that people (including me) get from a RR pull which, as we all know, don't really mean all that much.

I'm happy enough to tell people that my car makes 270bhp, and it does, about 10rpm before the limiter chimes in at 6200rpm so I guess someone who's car makes it's 270bhp lower down will be faster, even if that is it's peak power.

Then, as mentioned, there's driver skill at launching. Something I've proved I'm shite at clocking a fairly pathetic 6.2s 0-60 when timed with a GPS thingy. (think it was 6.2 anyway, mabey 6.3)

Anyway, I should really stop being a pussy and come along to a Santa Pod thing I guess :D

rr figures are to see how your power compares to other cars ....but these figures vary too much from rr to rr..
ive even seen printouts (not on the zone :D )that dont really reflect the car...i.e stock cars +shit exhaust with no science involved with massive increases. :? ....i used to be into old mk2 escorts/capris etc and magazine rr days were a good example:

claimed output...200 bhp
actual output......150 bhp
comments..........has felt different lately

lol yeah ok

excuse me mate , but i'm not on any "high horse"

as for the pod last year, i ran my IS up the strip, clutch slipping and all, and put some of the m20 2.5 boys and girls to shame with a 16.1 sec 1/4 mile

as for my "big power" M3 , do you hear me talking and posting about the it ?? No, and its not about power in that car any way, and its not about money either

no name and no one in particular was that prevous post aimed at, but since you posted , never saw any of A tecs cars there !! LoL

no
but some of us dont need to go up the strip
and blow others away.

its playground tactics

I am not on a quest to have the most powerfull e30
I did what I did to my car because I wanted something
different
not for racing

why havent I taken mine on a rolling road yet
because when somebody posts up power figures from a RR day
the first thing that happens is somebody
comes along and says
"oh that place is shit I had my car run there and their rollers are out"

each to thier own if you wanna run your car up the strip then do it
if not then dont

all I want to do is enjoy my car

Hmm. Patrick has a M5 engine in his E30 M3 and even though the car was not set up proper and he wasnt doing great times, he loved it. I think too many people get hung up on figure as mentioned. It dont matter how fast your car is, if it makes you smile then great. Besides some like myself like more styling than stupid amounts of bhp. Until i met Dips that was anyway, but i'm a poser and not a speed freak so it's all good winkeye

As for Santa Pod, i will have one go with my car full of ICE and then do the Show and Shine. We'll see how my chopped engine holds up. Ho and Sal have my £10 ready please!!

Ho and some of these so called Big Boy's chat poo. I bet my car would be faster on the back of a tow truck down the strip than some of them cause at least the tow truck will get to the end, but their engine wont hold up long enough to make it. Gosh i love causing trouble :D

Well my 325 was putting out 185bhp on the rollers when it was chipped - that was with itg, bbtb, btb 6 branch and straight through 'zorst & maf conversion. Head gave up though!!!

2.7 will be in very shortly and was running 220bhp (and lots of torque) in the car it came from - i'm changing the magnex/powerflow combo for my btb 6 branch and straight through, changing the little k&n filter for the itg and then at a later date, it will be ms'd and with bigger injectors!!!

As has been said though - don't care about the figures really, or if they're accurate - it's all just for a laugh!!!
If i wanted proper 100% speed, i'd strip the car out, but no - in go the leathers and ice!!!! And it'll still be quick!!

Oh, and it will be going up the strip this year!!!!
