Ironic - but the best free power increase (including free economy boost and long engine life) appears to be by driving that new engined car like a complete tit - to ensure you achieve a good ring seal (fnaar fnaar) and don't mash the cams

.
Could be the demonstrator car ends up with the best engine - thanks to all the arseholes thraping it properly...

it can't be long now before you can get the "NEON-POWER-CHIP-RESISTOR"!!!!!!!!! in fact i might sell some. a bit more expensive though, a LED with integral ballast resistor! i can even buy flashing ones for about 30p, they are capable of adding 50bhp per flash!

Yeah you've gotta be warey of things like this, They promise big power increases but only want Ԛ£3.99, I think anyone with half a brain would keep well away from these sort of adds.

Brianmoooore wrote:Adding this resistor is the same as having a faulty blue engine temperature sensor. The ECU thinks the engine hasn't fully warmed up so raises the idle speed a little and over fuels the engine to compensate for petrol vapour condensing out on cold metal combustion chambers and cylinder walls.
Most ECUs run the engine on the lean side of the mixture which gives maximum power for reasons of efficiency and emissions, so enriching the mixture a little will give a marginal power increase at the expense of greater fuel consumption, engine wear and oil contamination.
i remember reading somewhere that in extreme cases fuel mix had become so rich as to have caused bore wash and engine failure.

It would lower the centre of gravity slightly, and thus improve the handling.
Effect might be extremely marginal, but it's the sort of thing they'd spend Ԛ£10,000s on in F1.
