It's a bit hard to make out some of the figures from the picy below but i did 2 x 14.4, 2 x 14.5 and 1 x 14.7, trap speeds were 95/96 mph

I thought the E36 3.0 M3 which Demlotcrew mentioned was one of the most impressive!

I will be interested to see what Karans M5 engined car does down the strip. He can launch well and that's all part of it. There's alot more to the 1/4 mile than just putting your foot down. Unless you are in an auto of course! :? :)

Yeah, a lot is down to the driver.

I had a slightly tuned S13 Nissan 200sx with a turbo timer that timed 0-60, 0-100 etc.
My best ever 0-60 was 6.0 seconds. Too much wheelspin or not enough revs and bogging down easily put it over 8 seconds sometimes!
You have to get it just right, and with the adrenaline pumping on the start line it's not as easy as it looks!

Can't wait to get my 335i running right and seeing what it will do on the strip! winkeye

Is that Darren Peart's white manta?

Not knocking the rover V8, but it seems to cost a lot of $$$ once you pass the 250bhp mark doesn't it?

seen it up at York many a time, although not seen it there much this year. I know the car not the owner. A mate of mine has a Model A replica van with a Rover V8 with nitrous, last i heard he was going the chevy route though due to the cost of getting more out of the rover lump.

On of the best ways is a Ls2 from a company like turnkeyengine.com. Ready to rock, just some adjustments needed for the e30 :).

Yep, that's him. Grew up with him, his old man had a pop which is what got him into rods.
Car is orange now, used to be blue/pink. Just found a pic of both cars in the same pic from last year

Anyway, back on topic :o:
I reckon a decent V8 with a nice 100 shot of gas would do the trick nicely

that was my point entirely, a smallblock is the same cost ans work to fit as a rover, with much greater and cheaper tuning potential.

apologies for treading on toes, but I did say it was My opinion, like it or not. 8)
The best car for me was a Silver E36 3.0l M3 it was doing 12.8sec

S50B30
Cams
Carbon airbox
Alpha-N (not sure on the EMS)
= 340bhp

Thats the proper way NA!

Also my favourite of the day! I've seen that car go from fast to serioulsy fast over the last two months, driven it on 2 occassions and it's really really quick.

The guy who owns it built my drive way!

Andrew, he is running no MAF (as you may have seen) and running standard motronic. It's been mapped to run without the MAF. Puts down 335bhp.

I found that tuning parts availablity had started to decrease as well, though Real Steel have recently (after about 4 years of waiting) launched a set of new heads, otherwise it would have been Wildcat at something like Ԛ£3k.
For the money I put into mine, I could have had a decent spec small/big block - live and learn I guess.
Im going to change my previous suggestion.... for drag use only crate 572 (on gas!), circuit use small block

Doesn't it all depend on what you want your car for :? Surely a car that rips up the tarmac would be set up differently to a car that's quick on the road :?:

I have 12" wide rears, but i also have a huge kit and ICE that weighs as much as 2 people permanantly sitting in my boot, so even with some of the fancy engines you guys are talking about, i'd be quick, but i wont be braking any records, so i'd expect an every day car to be in a similar position 8O
