What a load of bollox
Here in Australia, all the E30 M3's that are coming into the country (especially fom Japan, lots with only 80,000kms on them) have to be converted to RHD
Fit an E36 M3 steering rack and you maintain the steering responce.

but the fact remains that the E30 M3 was never designed, tested or race proven in RHD form....
I have had this argument before with people that have had RHD M3's, i ask them "When and where it was converted to RHD", they say "Its UK spec, came from factory RHD", i say "UK spec is LHD, left factory as LHD, so when and where was it converted" blah blah blah.........
Converting to RHD ruins the car........just because loads have been done does not make it right.....
ask yourself this, Why are so many coming into Oz with low milage that have been converted ?

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
If LHD bothers you so much, DO NOT BUY a E30 M3.
Look at this way, there are several LHD only performance cars M3, Integrales, etc etc in the UK. Real drivers can adapt, messers cant.

Driving a LH drive car in the UK is the same as driving a RH drive car on the continent, and I do plenty of that with no serious problems. There are a few advantages to be weighed against the only major disadvantage of the poor visibility when overtaking on main roads. Fortunately, I usually have a passenger when abroad to help with that problem.

Why?Converting to RHD ruins the car
They corner weight up ok in RHD form.
Z3 rack improves it infinitely.Fit an E36 M3 steering rack and you maintain the steering responce.
Ian Godney's car looks fine to me.e21Jason wrote: Ian of godspeed brakes done it on his m3 rally car, not that tricky most holes are there, rack can be replaced with a e36 one.......

How do you handle McD's drive through in a LHD?

first thing i look at when i see an "m3" is if its a left hooker.
if i saw it was a right hand drive i'd wouldnt believe them if they told me it was an m3 cos you can just have the arches engine ect and badges put on.
imo dont do it spoils the originality of an m3.
i also worked for maccys and a lot of what you hear is bollox

In all honesty... fine! Unless your a little on the larger side, and find it hard to lean accross, it's not a problem, most of the kiddies at Drive thru's/ toll boths are to busy looking at the car anyway!M3Compact wrote:

Does it currently affect the value much, of a nicely converted genuine M3, to be RHD?

i had a ford lightening once had it for 5 weeks went to drive through and just hopped across the bench seat so it was easy and as for driving it WOW what an experience, was left hooker but you soon get use to it and the power and sound that the beast of an engine produced was out of this world. So KEEP left hand drive

I think most enthuastis woud stay of a RHD unless it was done when new by Birds or Lees BMW, last RHD bmw i saw on ebay which was doen by birds was about 3.5k at least 1-2k cheaper than LHD.
