No worse than a normal change though (No H&T and no double clutch) and H&T helps the clutch. I think synchros are good enough now to able to leave out the double clutch? I do double clutch sometimes but it is slower than a normal change (H&T is exactly the same but double clutch is slower, even after a lot of practice there still has to be a pause in neutral) so it is difficult to do in a hurry when it isn't planned which happens a lot in city driving (like when a light changes unexpectedly and you have to stop quickly). I am not saying don't do it, for sure if you are good enough then it is definately the best for the drivetrain, but I think just H&T is enough these days.M3Compact wrote:H&T might make the downchanges smoother for the ride, but if you don't lift the clutch whilst travelling through the neutral gate, you're not doing the best for your gearbox.(Wont spin the shafts up to speed with the clutch pressed.)
NOTE: Everywhere I have put H&T I mean rev matching, with no double clutch, and H&T under brakes. Obviously a double clutch still requires H&T as well when braking.
