No matter Si. You can still look like Da Man by relocating to South Wales, buying a black 4 door 320i on the F plate and doing lots of wheelspins outside the Ace as everyone laughs at/ignores you. winkeye

You bringing the 'Pina to the Ring then Chap? Or the SE Sportomatic?? :D

i would love to take the alpina but the engine is barely run in from the rebuild!

auto has suspect steering, would be laugh though, it's like a boat on wheels the dampers are so f**ked

so leaves the trusty sport-will be the most fun as she is set up nicely for it!

think this pina will have stay at home until i can cleanse it of all the council parts that are on it. Then i can take it out without a K&N cone induction roar

nope :(

if i was a naughty boy. i'd put the cow catcher and engine in my old sport he he. Would be a nice car to me. But i can't do this as it would be a cardinal sin!

But i have to start again somewhat on this car, i need leathers and to add some factory options she has nothing! Half the fun though

12 button obc, leccy sunroof, sport seats cloth, thats it!

Alpina will have the 52mm inserts - doesnt your sport have the 45mm ones with the collar to fit the 52mm struts?

You better also totally avoid speed humps if your intending to keep the cowcatcher on there.

51mm....

I was having a talk with Demlot the other day and he said the 51mm ones were the wrong ones....apparently they are too long or something???

I rememeber taking out my old alpina units and replacing them with the ones you have and they were the same height.

Si,

Sal is correct to an extent.

There are two types of Inverted bilstiens;

Ones for stock ride heigh springs (might have been fitted to the alpina sal had, but would have been the wrong ones)

Ones for lowered higher spring rate springs (these are the ones you have, they are 1" shorter)

HTH

The Bilsteins that came out of the Alpina had an Alpina engraving on them and were exactly the same height as the Bilstein Sports that Sal was replacing them with.

I know as I changed them.

Do you really want to argue with me on this?

I dont want to argue with you full stop!

I have the origional Alpina Parts Cat and it clearly shows the Bilstien damper being the shorter one. Now going by the alpina part numbers you can clearly work out that the early Mtech one cars shared the same size and style of bilstein inverted damper on the front because of the collar nut.

From the pic on the parts cat from alpina you can clearly see its the smaller shock as the taller (also slightly thicker one) has a different shape it at the bottom and the pic shown on the cat is of a live item (not a drawing) and its the shorter one.

Anyway it doesnt matter they are both very good dampers the slight advantage of the longer one is its slightly more heavy duty, thats it!

Still better than the boge gas dampers supplied with the Cup kits.

Why the need to mention they are better than the Cup kit shocks??

And who says they are Boge?

Your head is really getting too big Andrew thinking you are the expert on everything......because your so not!

Learn to change brake pads properly and not fit second hand engine mounts to my car and I might even think of taking you seriously again.

Listen Kermit,

your best friends with Andy so your obvioulsy going to take his side - understandable.

I asked Demlot to come over and do my car because of his "legendry reputation". Very nice of him but he messed it up and I had to tell him how to change brake pads properly.

The cup kit shocks comment was blatant bait to me trying to wind me up and you also do the same to some extent.

And my Touring is a turd now is it? I can never slate off someone else's pride and joy - I think thats a bit bang out of line. I could say alot about that C2 you just bought but because its such a low thing to do I wont go there. I have ethics and I dont have double standards unlike some.

I dont have to show you his workmanship - it was others who pointed it out! I didnt even check.

My reason for posting about this is not to harm his reputation and I know it wont.

You have blatantly tried in the past to go out and affect my reputation for your own reasons - that never made a difference.
